When selecting or designing a solar power system, it’s important to understand what the specifications on a solar panel mean. Here’s a quick guide:
1️⃣ Maximum Power (Pmax / Wattage)
Indicates the peak power output (in watts) under Standard Test Conditions (STC). Example: Pmax = 400W means the panel can output 400 watts at peak.
2️⃣ Open-Circuit Voltage (Voc)
The voltage when no load is connected. Important for inverter and charge controller voltage limits.
3️⃣ Short-Circuit Current (Isc)
The current when terminals are shorted. Useful for sizing fuses and overcurrent protection.
