Thanks Steve Edgington MLA : Member for Barkly, and our team looks forward to delivering another quality project for the Barkley Region.
Congratulations to Harvey Developments who have been awarded a $2.4 million contract to fit-out the new Barkly Business Hub.
I’m proud to advise the Barkly Business Hub is one of the key initiative’s under the $78.4 million Barkly Regional Deal which we signed in April 2019 and will operate in Tennant Creek from the Government Centre on Peko Road.
The Barkly Business Hub will be a ‘one-stop-shop’ to support regional business creation and growth by building local business capacity and helping our local businesses capitalise on economic opportunities in the region.
Existing Australian Government programs such as indigenous small business support services and microfinancing will be available. It will help create jobs, expand industry, elevate the Barkly’s business capabilities and remove barriers to investment.
The Hub will enable the co-location of Northern Territory Government and National Indigenous Australians Agency staff to streamline business and workforce support and progress other Barkly Regional Deal initiatives such as the Regional Workforce Strategy, Maximising Aboriginal Employment, Barkly Mining and Energy Services Hub, Economic Growth Strategy and the much needed CDP Reform.
Design of the Barkly Business Hub has been finalised with construction anticipated to be complete in mid-2022.
The Barkly Regional Deal aims to improve the productivity and liveability of the Barkly region by stimulating economic growth, improving social outcomes and supporting local Aboriginal leadership.
