A stunning example of an ETFE facade to create sustainable architecture.
Major sports clothing company Under Armour recently recreated its world headquarters in Baltimore, Md., by putting its connection to the environment and community on display. Besides using a mass timber structural frame and having an overall commitment to reducing embodied carbon, the new building features a sleek facade of single-layer ETFE. The lead design architect, Gensler, helped the apparel company move toward its goal of attaining 100% renewable sources by 2030 and net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. A key to making this work is the ETFE membrane cladding. Engineering, fabrication, project management and installation of the membrane was by our Taiyo sister company in the US - Birdair.
