Congratulations to Sam Bush on his promotion to General Manager of AEC’s Transmission & Distribution team.

With more than 15 years of experience across transmission, substations, grid connections, renewables, BESS and asset operations, Sam brings extensive delivery expertise, strong leadership and a proven ability to deliver complex energy infrastructure projects.

In this role, he’ll help drive the continued growth of AEC’s capabilities across substations, overhead lines, underground HV cable, grid connections and utility infrastructure - supporting clients to deliver critical energy projects safely, efficiently and with confidence.

Sam’s combination of hands-on project experience and strategic thinking around governance, constructability and commissioning makes him a standout leader as we continue supporting Australia’s energy transition.

A well-deserved promotion- congratulations, Sam. We’re excited to see the impact you’ll continue to make across the business and for our clients.

Connecting with the communities where we work is an important part of every project, and it was fantastic to see such a strong turnout at the Fraser Coast Hybrid Project Open Day. Owned by Global Power Generation Australia (GPG Australia) and Naturgy Energy Group, the project represents an important investment in renewable energy and the local region.

The event provided a valuable opportunity for local community members to meet the team, ask questions, and have open conversations about the project. We were proud to have several of AEC's highly experienced senior staff in attendance—many of whom will be overseeing the delivery of the project.

By building these relationships early, our team gains a deeper understanding of the community's priorities and concerns, helping ensure they remain front of mind throughout every stage of the project.

A big thank you to everyone who came along. We look forward to continuing to work together with the local community, GPG Australia and Naturgy as the Fraser Coast Hybrid Project progresses.

We marked this Week at with an engaging cultural awareness session over morning tea with Indigenous Liaison Officer, Averil Dillon. Averil shared some cultural artefacts with the group as well as a presentation on the Cultural Heritage Act 2003. Working on land that has a long history of providing indigenous communities with food, protection and medicine, it’s critical that we understand how to identify cultural artefacts and our obligations to respect and report on any significant findings.

This week, some of the AEC team swapped tools for tongs to support FareShare’s Meals for the Mob initiative.

Coming together to cook healthy, ready-to-eat meals for Indigenous Australians experiencing food insecurity has been a fun and fulfilling way to recognise National Reconciliation Week, connecting through conversation, and giving back to community.

We’re excited for 16th May and the upcoming Wellington Show, which is set to celebrate its 150th birthday with a showcase of history, regional pride, and skill.

It’s special to be part of a region with that kind of history and we love contributing to its development through our work on the Maryvale Solar and Energy Storage Project. 🌞
