⚡ PSA: DIAL BEFORE YOU DIG ⚡
That little green pillar out front is quietly holding 415 volts, and the cable running from it to your meter panel is meant to be 600mm down with orange marker tape above it.
Up in the Northeast Brisbane hills? We’re regularly finding them at 200–300mm with no tape. Blame the gradient, either way it’s closer to your bucket than you think.
This one was 200mm. No tape. Excavator found it the hard way.
Here’s the scary part: it was a clean cut. 🌶️ No fuse blew 🌶️. That cable was still live in an open trench while work carried on around it. First thing we did on arrival was isolate.
Nobody got hurt — the only part that matters. Same day they called us, we had the trench dug to depth, an inline repair made, and the power back on.
