Our fifth-generation family farm is at risk of closure due to the flawed Murray Darling Basin Plan. If we go, it’s not just our family affected -
Gone will be the 10 full time staff members and 6 families whose livelihood is dependent on us.
Gone will be our 7 schoolchildren from 4 local schools.
Gone will be roughly 10 employees from the milk processor.
Between us, we’re volunteers on local committees, community fundraisers, industry representatives and members of sports teams – that will be gone from our local community.
Gone will be the $4.5 million dollars that is injected into the regional economy year on year at the 70+ local businesses that we support.
Gone will be the supply of 8 million litres of milk – enough to supply milk to 75,000 Australians for a year – at a time when Australian milk supply is dwindling.
Poor implementation of a flawed Murray Darling Basin Plan is killing our region, we’re at a tipping point and once we’re gone, there’ll be no coming back.
That’s why we’ll be joining the Convoy to Canberra on the 2nd of December to yet again make our case to the politicians that this policy induced drought is causing irrevocable damage to our regional economy and communities.
Policy has created this mess & with political will and leadership, policy can fix it.
