Quick update from the patch! 🌱
G’day everyone! 👋
It’s been a minute since I’ve popped up on the Barry’s Backyard feed, so I reckon it’s high time I dropped back in and re-introduced myself.
I’m Billy - the bloke running the show here at Barry’s Backyard. 🌿
From day one, the mission here has been straightforward: help regular Aussies get more homegrown produce onto their plates, make the most of whatever outdoor space they’ve got, and enjoy the process along the way.
It doesn’t matter if you’re working with a sprawling block, a compact courtyard, a few container pots on the balcony, or a yard that’s permanently mid-renovation (guilty as charged 😂). My goal is to make Barry’s Backyard a spot where you can pick up fresh ideas, try new things, and get motivated to plant something of your own.
I’ve been laying low lately for good reason - I’ve spent the last few months quietly grafting away on something big behind the scenes...

It’s been a huge learning process, but the main drive is turning Barry’s Backyard into much more than just a feed you scroll through. It’s becoming a home for gear, handy guides, practical ideas, and a community of legend Aussies who just want to grow their own damn food.
There’s still a bit of work to go, but we’re finally at the stage where I can pull back the curtain and take you all along with me.
