Ending the Week on a High ⚡

Doug, Geoff and Jett wrapped up last week on site delivering installation works for the integration of a new 250kVA Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).

Projects like these play an important role in supporting reliable and efficient power solutions, with the team carrying out the installation works to ensure the system is ready for commissioning and operation.

A great way to finish off the week and another quality project progressing well for the JDC Thomson team. 🔋🔧

Rental Fleet Expansion ⚡

Earlier this year, we welcomed a second 30kVA generator to the JDC Thomson rental fleet, giving us greater capacity to support planned outages, emergency backup power, and temporary site supplies.

The unit has been fitted out with fleet branding, asset identification decals, operating instructions, and safety signage to improve site identification, compliance, and safe operation.

⚡👷 Meet the Team – Ben 👷⚡

Meet Ben, one of the newest additions to the team at JDC Thomson 👋

Ben joins the crew as a Licensed Electrician and Generator Technician, bringing with him 19 years of industry experience and a wealth of knowledge on the tools.

One of Ben’s favourite parts of the job is the opportunity to work outdoors and travel to different locations — something that comes with the territory in the generator and electrical industry.

Outside of work, Ben enjoys spending time with his many animals and is a passionate South Sydney Rabbitohs supporter 🏉 He’s also a big fan of puzzles and enjoys the challenge of figuring things out both on and off the tools. 🧩

Safe to say Ben’s place is never quiet, with sheep, goats, cats and even a pony all keeping him busy when he’s not at work.

Great to have you on board, Ben! 🔧👏

Before the Sun Comes Up 🪨🌅

Geoff was up bright and early this morning, heading out to the quarry before sunrise to get some maintenance work knocked over before the crew fired up for the day.

Getting in early meant repairs and checks could be completed with minimal interruption to operations — all part of keeping the plant running smoothly and the site moving.

Not everyone’s day starts in the dark, but for Geoff it’s just another day getting the job done. 🔧💪

Backup Power Upgrade Underway 🏢🔋

The team have been in Warren making strong progress on a major backup power upgrade, including the installation of a new IP-rated Main Switchboard, 96-pole distribution board, and a 220kVA standby diesel generator with Automatic Transfer Switch functionality.

Works have also included new submains, control wiring, cable infrastructure, and preparation for final integration into the site supply.🔧⚡

Meet Harry, one of our 3rd year apprentices here at JDC Thomson Electrical Systems 👋

Harry brings a solid background to the team, having spent 5 years working as a chippy before making the switch to electrical. His experience on the tools shows in his work, and he’s always keen to get stuck in and keep learning.

Outside of work, Harry enjoys snow skiing and rugby, and spends his downtime with his partner Meg and their dog Ollie 🐶

It’s great to have Harry as part of the crew as he continues to build his skills and grow in the trade 💙❤️

Prepped and Ready to Go ⚡🔧

The JDC team have been busy in the yard getting new generators checked, tested, and ready to head out to Warren and surrounding areas.

From inspections through to final checks, it’s all about making sure every unit is good to go and ready to perform when it hits site. Another big push behind the scenes to keep things running smoothly. 💪⚡

🪨🔧 Back in the Quarry 🔧🪨

Rick has been out at the quarry recently carrying out repairs on a crusher system and tracking down a hydraulic pump control fault.

Working through the fault and getting the system back into operation is all part of keeping heavy plant running smoothly in tough conditions. Another solid effort keeping things moving on site. ⚡💪
