Another Future Female Tradie in the Making!

Today I had the pleasure of having a young work experience student join me on site to learn some basic carpentry skills.

She jumped straight in, learnt how to safely use a framing nail gun, helped assemble wall frames, and got a real taste of what it’s like working on a construction site. Watching her confidence grow throughout the day was amazing!

This is exactly why supporting women in trade is so important. Giving young women the opportunity to experience the industry firsthand helps break down stereotypes and shows them that they absolutely belong in construction if that’s the path they choose.

Every qualified female tradie started somewhere, and sometimes all it takes is one person willing to give them a chance.

Who knows… today’s work experience student could be tomorrow’s qualified carpenter!

Let’s keep inspiring, mentoring, and supporting the next generation of women in trade. 💖

"If she can see it, she can be it." 💜👷‍♀️

Every time a young girl sees a woman driving the excavator, fixing a hot water service, wiring a switchboard, building a house, or running a business, something powerful happens.

She starts to believe that she can do it too.

Representation matters. When girls grow up seeing women in trades, leadership, and industries that have traditionally been male-dominated, it opens doors they may never have considered.

To every woman out there breaking barriers, showing up, and proving what's possible - thank you. You're inspiring the next generation without even realising it.

Because if she can see it, she can be it. 💜

Days like today are a great reminder that the trades are built on teamwork. We all bring different skills, work together to get the job done, and have a few laughs along the way.

Work doesn't feel like work when you're surrounded by good people.

It's awesome to see more women across all trades supporting one another and proving that there's a place for everyone on site.

💜 What a week it’s been celebrating the incredible women of Western Victoria and beyond.

Over the past week, I’ve had the pleasure of shining a light on some truly inspiring women from across our region as part of our International Women’s Day spotlight series.

From community champions and small business owners to leaders in trades, agriculture, events, sustainability and advocacy - these women help shape the strength and character of Western Victoria every day.

To the wonderful women featured in our series - and to the many more quietly making a difference in our communities every day - thank you. Our region is stronger because of you.
