Please read. I would really appreciate your help with this.

Regarding the survey linked below, I made an unsuccessful application to the Regional Arts Development Fund earlier this year.*

I want to create a program that pairs a local artist with a young people who are disenfranchised from the school system and society. The plan would be to work with local council to use materials destined for landfill, along with the skills of local fabrication businesses, to create functional public art.

The main two forms I would be aiming for would be seating and shade structures.

If this is something that you would like to see, I would dearly appreciate it if you could include something akin to this idea in your response to the Public Art Masterplan Survey.

*The main reason is was unsuccessful was because I was seeking funding to further develop my idea (Concept Development), which isn't something they prefer to fund at present. They want my application to be further along before funding it, and I will continue working towards this goal.

I have support from a couple of nonprofits and local organisations for this idea.

Have your say and help shape the future of public art projects in the Gladstone Region.

The incident I used as inspiration for my piece, where a houseless camp was destroyed by the Moreton Bay city council, is now in the Supreme Court.

"Barrister Hamish Clift, acting for Basic Rights Queensland, told the court Moreton Bay's actions infringed the Human Rights Act.

He said those affected had been denied the right to home and privacy, the right to property, and freedom from cruel, inhumane and degrading treatment.

"What is blindingly clear is there was no consideration of the applicants' human rights — there was not even space to consider it," Mr Clift told the court.

"The applicants are all homeless and sleeping rough on public land, they have nowhere else to go, there is no alternative, they are all indigent and vulnerable."

Mr Clift said at least two of his clients could not have given consent at all, since they were not present when the council officers bulldozed their belongings.

He said his clients were given 15 days to appeal the council's decision, which was rendered pointless by the fact they were given only one hour to remove their belongings."
