Getting council approval on the Gold Coast doesn’t have to delay your renovation.

Here are 3 ways to fast-track the process and keep your build moving:

1️⃣ Know what approvals you need.
Check if your project requires a Development Application (DA) or Approval (BA) through the City Council planning tool. Each has different timelines — knowing early saves weeks.

2️⃣ Submit complete documentation.
Missing site plans or structural drawings are the #1 reason applications are delayed. Make sure your builder or certifier submits everything upfront.

3️⃣ Use a private certifier.
For most home extensions and renovations, a private certifier can assess your plans faster than council and issue approvals directly — cutting wait times significantly.
