It’s been busy on the home front!

Digging dahlia, improving bed soil, planting out spring seedlings, starting cuttings and potting young olive trees.

Today I have to divide and store the bulk of the dahlia tubers. Send good true crime podcast recommendations! Redhanded and Casefile can’t keep up with me 🤣🤷🏼‍♀️

Beautiful flowers start with beautiful soil.

Today I’m adding to my compost and topping up the beds to get ready for planting spring flowers!

Thanks to my little mates for their help in making the compost. No thanks to the pest who went straight through a fence like it wasn’t there while I was picking up poo. She then trampled the peony row before crashing into an apple tree 🤦‍♀️

It’s said that working with cattle and sheep bring out your best vocabulary 🙄🤷🏼‍♀️

We are currently so dry out here missing out on vital rain over the last year. We are hand feeding horses and cows. We are also seeing unusually warmer weather. Today I’ve chopped down dahlia 1/3 to simulate plant death that a frost will do in order to signal to the plant to put energy into the tuber. The cows, geese and chooks love the cuttings!

I absolutely love this zinnia.

At the early stage it’s like a latte x lilac with a beautiful, big velvety centre.

I don’t want it to cross pollinate so this variety has been hand pollinated this morning and bagged for breeding. Who knew there was so much to growing flowers!

Whilst our dahlia are setting seed and heading off to sleep, we still have beautiful bunches of seasonal flowers available. PM me for orders.

We have a lot of wildlife here (some not so welcome 🫣). I have plenty of beautiful Bowerbird here to keep me entertained. They can mimic different sounds so well from our pets to a tractor! They also like to pinch anything I leave laying around 🤣

I love having these clowns in the garden 🥰

The worst thing about flowers is snakes 🫣

Thank goodness flower orders are done for the day. Yesterday was a brown snake, today a python.

Casually watering flowers and veggies and our resident magpie family clued me in on this! I love having birds around…

Thank you to Alan Keefe for saving my life today. This one’s relocated far away! 🫣🤣

We have never had a python before! Hopefully not again 🫣

Picked the last couple of bunches of dahlia this morning. So sad for the end of dahlia season, although this warmer weather may wake them up again 🤷🏼‍♀️

The remaining will brighten my home and set seed for a breeding patch next summer 🌺

Thank you to all who bought beautiful flowers over the season. We still have small amounts of seasonal flowers available through the year and dried bouquets year round.

Now we wait for our gorgeous ranunculus to wake up and grow, along with the array of seedlings in the glasshouse 🥰💐

I can confirm that the pink ‘Candy’ dahlia is bigger than the cats head 🙄🫣🤣 isn’t she stunning!
