Celebrating my first project off the tools! I've been away for a month- first looking after my Dad after a knee replacement operation and then two weeks on Magnetic Island taking time off. These photos have been sent to me by the painter and builder while I have been gone. Nice to watch the progress from a distance. Thankyou Corey Comfort and Chris Zuvela for your great work!

And then there was one (and a great team of tradies)....
The bitter sweet journey continues as Joanna has left on her adventure- a 6 month working holiday in the UK. I am excited for you Jo as your adventure begins and you get to explore another beautiful part of the world God has created, but I will miss our adventures here, both on the job and in our down time. It has been an unexpected blessing that we got to not only have you living with us again for a year, but also getting to work together in the renovation space. I will miss our laughs together on the job, the time just spent doing life together (both the mundane and the fun parts), and grappling with and overcoming challenges together. I think we came up with some unusual strategies at times, (that tradies would probably wonder about) but hey, they worked and we found we could actually do it! Thanks for partnering with me. Thanks for your willingness to work hard, your ideas, your willingness to give it a go, your patience and persistence when it felt overwhelming, your dose of reality when I was tempted to be unrealistic, your beautiful smile and catchy giggle. Thanks for your expertise in the social media space and admin. Thanks for coaching me in social media from the other side of the world! I must say that I feel ready to down the tools and let the tradies pick up the hard physical work, but I will still miss working with you but mostly just miss having you around this next 6 months or so. Love you so much!

This weekend we were able to have some lovely family time, including the opportunity to show everyone through the nearly completed tiny home!

It's time for a tiny home update! We've focussed on the outside of the house lately and have finished putting the weatherboard up and have moved on to painting. It's so nice to have walls and a roof after starting with just a frame!

And then there were two….
Today is bitter sweet. Our team reduced by one when we popped Dan on the plane to head to Sydney where he is attending a year-long discipleship course. It felt bitter because Dan will be greatly missed, not just on the job, but in our home. We will miss his fun and laughter, and his magic tricks and singing. We will miss his deep questions and conversations and his beautiful character. But sweet…because this is the next right step for Dan and we know he will be as much of a blessing to those he is with in Sydney as he has been for us.

It is exciting sitting at the beginning of a new year wondering what this year will bring. I know there will be times for all of us of joy and grief, highs and lows all somehow playing out in the dance of life and bringing with them a richness and depth.

We were all looking forward to starting our next project this week, but unfortunately due to the recent flooding in Far North Queensland following Cyclone Jasper, this has been put on hold until early 2024. Instead we have spent our time giving our home some well-deserved attention, as well as visiting the house we put on the market recently to make sure it is looking its best for any potential buyers!

As a side effect of Cyclone Jasper we've had steady ongoing rain over the last few days - our property has received 24.5cm of rain since Wednesday morning! We feel very blessed that we are between projects and not trying to renovate at the moment but we are feeling and praying for those that have been impacted by the cyclone.

This photo shows the river at the back of our property at the highest level that we have ever seen it, we are grateful to be living at the top of the hill.

While we are waiting for our next project we have spent some time reorganising our shed at home to hopefully make it easier to find everything for future renos. It is looking so much better already!
