We recently completed a full switchboard upgrade for a local customer, swapping out old ceramic rewireable fuses for individual RCBO safety switches on every circuit- AND THE TIMING COULD NOT HAVE BEEN BETTER!
During the upgrade, we uncovered TWO serious faults the old fuses had completely failed to detect 👇
🔥 Burnt cabling inside the switchboard on a power circuit - A genuine fire risk sitting behind the panel!
🔥 Burnt-out wiring at the hot water unit - Again, completely undetected by the old fuse protection.
Both faults had likely been developing for a long time. Why didn't the fuses pick it up? Because ceramic fuses only respond to large overcurrents and short circuits.
