Emergency Pole Replacement

I've replaced some dodgy poles supporting live wires before but this one takes the cake! It was barely a shell of timber completely eaten out by termites yet miraculously supporting over 200kg weight of live wires.
2 days later we replaced it as an emergency job with my crane operator giving up his RDO to work with me. Cheers to Eden from Gladiator Cranes for the chop out.
We almost drilled out the entire rotten buried base but came up short of the required 2.1m depth by 300mm. 2nd hole drilled and we had her in 2.5m deep for extra strength and good for the next 100+ years!
Titan Composite Poles are the gold standard around the world for longevity and strength and I'm proud to be a Victorian distributor after having purchased the very first pole off the production line 14 years ago.
Hazardous poles like this should have been taken out of service years ago especially being outside a factory door where people work every day. Fortunately we got this one before it fell and killed someone but only just.

Pole to pit installation with Healesville Directional Drilling then new underground power for the customer joining into the old mains near his damaged private pole.

Last job for the year. Our customer had been 7 days on a generator but we WILL get this family back on supply in time for Christmas lunch!
It's been a long day and we'll likely finish in the dark but we'll finish.
Some jobs are simple, some are tough, this one was just complex with many buried services in the roadway and inside the property but we've managed to leave them all intact. Finishing up now at 10pm power will be on tomorrow!

That's one less potential bushfire!

WARRANDYTE.
150m Underground Power for a customer off supply since the last storm.
So that's 150m of rock trenched by noon.
240mm2 Aluminium conductors joining onto existing 16mm2 mains near the house.
Hoping to have this in and backfilled today so we can have Ausnet Faults reconnect supply.

We are launching expanded locations and eligibility criteria to underground more private powerlines in high-bushfire-risk areas to help build a safer Victoria.

The Private Overhead Electrical Line (POEL) Scheme began with Alpine, East Gippsland and Towong areas affected by the summer 2019-20 bushfires, and is now open to 10 more shires until June 2022.
