“Both fear and faith ask you to believe in something you can’t see. You choose”.
20 years ago I did exactly that and started Ground Level landscaping
Through death came a new perspective on life. A chance to challenge myself, prove myself, and delve further into an industry that would become my passion.
My body would disagree, but to this day I still love the physical brutality of this job. Being physically and mentally exhausted at the end of each day was punishment for the beauty that is at the end of each job and that is the only driving motivator that I need. I thrive on seeing change. I never thought I’d reach this milestone. But I also never thought I’d find a job that could feed my mind and soul like landscaping could.
Thank you to my clients for trusting me with your gardens and visions. Handing over money to something that isn’t guaranteed is always a risk that must be honored.
I couldn’t do this job without my workers past and present. The fact that I still keep in touch with many of them years after their service is indicative of my respect of their time and efforts spent with me.
And a special thank you to my family. Unfortunately the perfect work life balance hasn’t always existed. The early starts, weekends and public holidays worked, snappy husband and dad (often) and time missed, you’re still the driving motivator for what i do.
I know my time is limited, but what a privilege it is to wake up and do what you love every day.
