Three holes were missing from this large structural steel cleat, so the wall brace could not be bolted into position.
First, I lined up the brace and marked the exact hole centres. Then I used a battery-powered mag drill to drill all three holes through the cleat.
Once the holes were finished, we lined the wall brace back up and locked it into position using M30 bolts.
Would you drill these holes on-site, or send the cleat back for modification?
Always follow the approved drawings, engineering requirements and site procedures before modifying structural steel.
