Our client needed motive power to haul ballast hoppers during construction of the 12-inch gauge railway. A quick and economical solution was provided by mounting a lawn tractor on a simple four-wheeled chassis. The result was simple, robust and effective.

A current project is construction of a 12-inch gauge diesel locomotive. We are working with the client's team to fabricate the assemblies and assemble the locomotive.
These photos show the construction of the chassis frame at the client's workshop, working with members of the client's site team.

Some hopper cars were needed for the 12-inch gauge railway project. As well as being functional, the client required them to look good. We decided to utilise the sheet metal capability of the "Solidworks" package to produce a design that was neat looking and relatively simple to fabricate. We proved the concept by fabricating a prototype car ourselves.
In practice, the cars have been robust and effective, despite quite "brutal" treatment during the railway construction process.

Creating an entire new 12-inch gauge railway from scratch was an exciting opportunity for us. We covered every stage; from walking the site, selecting the route, civil engineering design using 12D software, preparing drawing and document packages for the earthworks contractor, supervising the earthworks construction, designing the track and track construction tooling, developing the track construction procedures, supervising track laying, commissioning the railway and developing long term maintenance procedures.

Our client required boilers for two 12-inch gauge Class 400 Garratt steam locomotives. These were beyond the scope of miniature boiler codes and required design and construction to Australian standards. They were designed in accordance with Australian pressure equipment standards and verified by a pressure vessel design verification authority.
