An archive concept for a renovation of a classic red brick home in Nelson Bay. The goal was to create an extension that seamlessly integrates with the existing structure while modernising the facade and bringing balance and articulation to the overall design.

Like father, like daughter 🤍 Many of you who know me know that Dad and I share the same craft. A few years back, he slowed down, and I picked up the baton to carry on what’s now become a family tradition.

While my world is all software and computer programs, Dad’s was all hand drawings. Watching him over the years, I unknowingly inherited his style — from our handwriting to the way we sketch. Every time I see my own lines and curves mimic his, it makes me smile. Some things you just can’t teach — they’re passed down, heart to hand. ✏️✨

From dream to reality ✨ Our city project in Wickham proves that great design isn’t about size — it’s about smart thinking.

On a compact city block, we’ve created a two-storey family home that ticks every box: garage + 2 off-street parking spots, 3.5 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, two living areas, a dedicated office, and a spacious open-plan living zone that’s perfect for entertaining.

We can’t wait to see this home come to life and welcome its new chapter in the heart of Newcastle. 🏡💫

From one of the very first projects under House of Nina, this home holds a special place in my heart. Built by friends, it was truly a labour of love — an old cottage reimagined into a warm, modern family haven. ✨

Vaulted ceilings, polished concrete floors, and a chef-worthy kitchen came together to create something timeless and functional.

Recently, as it went up for expression of interest, we had the joy of seeing it captured in all its glory by professional photography — and it’s every bit as beautiful as the day it was finished. Proud doesn’t even begin to cover it. 🤍

A labour of love, rooted in nature 🌿🏡

Tucked into the rolling hills of Dungog on a sprawling block just minutes from the historic township, this high-end residential home is shaping up to be something truly special. As we near the final stages of concept design, this project continues to inspire - a true dream for all creatives involved.

With sweeping glass walls, industrial-style steel and timber beams, and hand-laid masonry stonework, this home is designed to both stand out and settle into its natural surrounds. Nestled amongst mature gums and thoughtfully planted native flora, it’s a modern sanctuary that honours the land it’s built on.

Our clients’ passion for permaculture and sustainable living will bring a richness to the final design - one that reflects a deep connection to the earth and a love for intentional living. We can’t wait to share more as this home continues to take shape.

Reintroducing Myself -

For those new to the page I’m Nina Goodwin, a Building & Interior Designer based in Newcastle. I’ve been working in the industry for over 10 years, and in 2020, I founded House of Nina – a multidisciplinary design practice (formerly known as The Good Design Studio).

My approach to design is holistic. I believe that every part of a build - from spatial planning and function design practice to landscaping and the finishing touches of your selections, play an essential role in how a space feels. It’s never just one detail that makes a space beautiful; it’s how all the elements work together.

At House of Nina, we offer a full suite of services including:
- Spatial design planning
- Architectural drafting
- Statements of Environmental Effects
- BASIX Certificates
- DA/CDC + CC lodgements
- Colour consulting + specifications

We work closely with clients and builders to create functional, cost-effective, and individual spaces that reflect your unique lifestyle and needs.

Thank you for being here – and if you’re thinking about your next project, I’d love to hear from you 🖤
