And recently they declared that the fire danger season in Regional Victoria is likely to last until May 2024. During this period, local council’s are calling on all local property owners to help keep the neighbourhood bushfire ready. As part of your bushfire action plan, it is important to keep your trees in good health to help safeguard your property and loved ones.

In Mildura, the local council has listed specific requirements to keep properties free from fire hazards. This list includes managing long or overgrown grass, rubbish, branches, and other materials. The council is also conducting inspections to ensure properties in the municipality comply with local laws.

Flipping a Hazardous situation into an opportunity to protect the biodiversity of Regional Victoria 🏡

This week our team encountered an old, hazardous tree on a roadside in the Moira Shire. While its limbs pose a danger to vehicles and citizens on the roadside, the tree trunk holds precious natural hollows, cherished homes for native birds and wildlife. These sanctuaries take years to form, thanks to the slow growth of trees.

At the Austral we value preserving native treasures and local biodiversity in any way possible. That's why we've turned this hazard into an opportunity for habitat preservation. Our team specialises in finding the best solutions that benefit both nature and safety.

A great site redevelopment project that the Austral Tree Services crew played a big part in! 🌳🌿

🌿 Project News // New Blog Post 🌿

Check out the latest PGG blog post on the transformative Seacliff Rail Station Project that we completed for the City of Holdfast Bay. 🏞️

This project engaged two of our PGG companies (Austral & Project Green) to collaboratively address both council and community concerns whilst creating a positive environmental impact across the site.

We began by clearing the overgrown vegetation, paving the way for a fresh start. A carefully designed pathway now connects the station to the street, ensuring safe and convenient access for commuters and locals. Additionally, in partnership with Kent Civil, we constructed a retention dam to manage drainage effectively and safeguard the site from heavy rain events.

To enhance the natural beauty of the surroundings, we incorporated a diverse selection of native plants provided by the council. The team also successfully salvaged the mulch generated from the tree removal as well as several dead trunks for re-purposing on-site. The mulch was utilised to enhance the newly designed garden beds, while the trunks were repurposed to create wildlife hollows and rest benches along pathways. These additions not only contribute to the area's aesthetics but also promote biodiversity, bolstering the sites overall environmental value.

After weeks of dedicated work, the project was successfully completed. The Austral team ensured the site's maintenance for an additional 12 months, including watering the newly planted vegetation to ensure its survival. The overwhelmingly positive feedback from the local community stands as a testament to the project's success in revitalizing the area and meeting community needs.
