BACKYARD TRANSFORMATION — FROM CHAOS TO CALM

This one started a little differently…

The entire backyard was covered in cardboard boxes — a creative attempt to stop sand being tracked through the house (resourceful… but not exactly the dream outdoor space 😅).

After some serious digging, clearing, and reshaping, we created a clean foundation and got to work bringing this space to life.

The hero? Wet-laid French pattern travertine from Freo Stone Paving delivering a seamless, premium finish that instantly elevated the entire yard.

With two young girls in mind, every part of the design was focused on being functional, safe, and low maintenance — a space the whole family can actually enjoy.

The curved Corten steel edging flows from the rear garden beds and ties in beautifully with the side of the home, while a compacted crushed limestone path winds its way through to the rear garage entry.

Feature olive trees, softly lit at night, create a stunning focal point — turning a once-forgotten space into something truly special.

This is what happens when you take a problem… and turn it into a purpose-built outdoor space.

✨ KINROSS POOL TRANSFORMATION ✨

We had the pleasure of working with some absolutely fantastic clients on this one — and what a transformation it turned out to be.

Let’s just say… the old backyard had character 😅
Out went the tired pavers, panel & post retaining, and around 16m³ of soil (yes, it was as fun as it sounds) to make way for a smarter, more functional design.

We also removed the old sloped brick paving behind the garden — because slipping your way to the backyard wasn’t exactly part of the brief.
In its place, we installed curved reconstituted REMASTONE retaining walls, designed to follow the shape of the pool and create a clean, cohesive look.

New steps were built to provide easy access to the upper lawn area, along with fresh reticulation to keep the new garden beds thriving.

One of the biggest improvements? Reworking the levels around the alfresco. The original layout dropped off in all the wrong places — not ideal when kids are running around. We redesigned the space to be safer, more practical, and much easier to use.

We also constructed a limestone wall to neatly hide the pool equipment — because let’s be honest, no one wants to stare at that while entertaining.

New Urban stone 400x400x40mm pavers and pool capping. This really transformed the entire area making it clean, level and safer around the pool.

The end result? A backyard that’s now perfect for family time, entertaining, and making the most of those hot Perth summer days. ☀️

Here’s the truth most people don’t realise…

👉 When the pool goes in, the rest of the backyard often gets forgotten.

And that’s exactly where the magic is either made… or missed.

This project is a perfect example of how we turned a “pool in a yard” into a complete outdoor living space. 👇

🔥 We installed French pattern travertine, wet-laid right through and over the pool edge — creating a seamless, high-end finish (no bulky capping, just clean flow). Big thanks to Eco Stone Australia for the quality product.

🍷 That old, overgrown fire pit area? Completely reimagined into a relaxed entertaining zone — perfect for a wine (or two) and nights around the fire.

🌳 We built a curved recycled red brick seating wall wrapping around the existing tree — turning it into a feature instead of an afterthought.

🌱 Fresh Palmetto Soft Leaf Buffalo lawn, fully reticulated, now ties the whole space together.

👣 Travertine stepping stones connect the new areas back to the existing timber deck — blending old and new seamlessly.
