Happy to share that Kristjan Donaldson has been appointed to the South West Joint Design Review Panel.

The SWDRP is a shared initiative between the Cities of Bunbury and Busselton and the Shires of Augusta Margaret River and Capel, meeting monthly to provide independent design advice on significant development applications and projects across the SW region.

It’s a corner of WA we love, and we’re excited to play a small part in shaping its future.

Across our workplace projects, we’ve become increasingly interested in how landscape, light and natural systems can be integrated into everyday work environments. Rather than treating landscape as an amenity, it becomes an integral part of the workplace infrastructure supporting focus, collaboration and wellbeing in ways that traditional office planning often can’t.

Because when people feel connected, comfortable and energised, performance tends to follow. It’s a simple equation; Wellness = Performance.

In a landscape often defined by visual noise, our approach seeks clarity – architecture grounded in logic, elevated by purpose, and shaped by its honest response to the world around it.

At our Burswood workplace, this results in two elevated buildings defined by structure and light. Timber enables expansive, column-free floorplates, bringing flexibility, warmth and reduced carbon impact.

A central atrium draws daylight deep into the plan, encouraging movement and interaction, while the landscaped public realm connects the campus to its setting.

Strength in simplicity.

Each project begins with a few simple questions: What must this building do? How must it stand? How should it respond to its setting?

At Torre Verde, these questions led to a rethinking of the apartment tower – not as stacked units, but as a vertical home. A spiralling helicoid form creates expansive, triple-height garden terraces, allowing full-scale trees, abundant light, and generous outdoor living. Deep planters and fully opening corners dissolve the boundary between inside and out. The structure stabilises and shapes the building while also mitigating wind and creating sheltered, usable spaces year-round.

Here, architecture emerges from purpose – form, structure and landscape are inseparable.

Grounded | Groundbreaking – Our process results in a deeply rational, legible architecture with a dynamic strength of character. The building’s expression becomes inextricable from its performance and context.

At Bishops See, a hybrid structure of CLT, glulam and steel enables 15m clear spans, creating open, flexible floorplates. That same structure extends outward cantilevering meeting rooms and breakout spaces into surrounding greenery. These ‘garden rooms’ bring rhythm to the façade and embed the building within its landscape.

Here, character isn’t applied - it’s derived - a synthesis of form, performance and site response.

Grounded | Groundbreaking – There is a quiet strength in architecture that grows naturally from its purpose. Our approach seeks to derive a building’s character from a considered synthesis of function, structure, and site response. It resists the urge to decorate, choosing instead to reveal the inherent beauty of a well-resolved solution. For us, architectural identity is not applied but discovered – shaped by the real demands of use, context and construction.
