Concrete Cutting & Core Drilling for a New Stairwell Opening in Perth

This Perth project involved floor saw cutting a section of suspended concrete slab to create a new stairwell opening.

Because no overcuts were allowed, core drilling was completed at the end of each saw cut line. This allowed the required sections of concrete to be removed without extending the floor saw cuts beyond the new opening.

Acro props and plywood sheeting were installed beneath the suspended slab to support and contain the concrete during removal. Once the concrete cutting and removal were completed, the entire work area was pressure cleaned and left ready for the next stage of the project.

Suspended slab cutting for a new stairwell opening.

For this job, a section of the suspended concrete slab needed to be floor saw cut and removed to create the new stairwell opening.

With no overcuts allowed, we core drilled the end of each cut line so the concrete could break away cleanly without the saw cuts extending past the required opening.

Before removal, acro props and plywood sheeting were installed beneath the slab to safely support and contain the concrete as each section was removed.

Once the cutting and removal were complete, we pressure cleaned the entire work area and left the site clean and ready for the next stage of works.

A clean window recess comes down to getting the cuts right and carefully removing the concrete in between.

For this job, we formed a recessed section for the window frame by making vertical and horizontal cuts that met cleanly, before carefully jackhammering out the concrete. This allows the window frame to sit neatly back into the concrete rather than sitting on the surface, creating a clean, modern architectural finish.

A little cutting, a little chipping, and plenty of care to get the finished recess right.

A recent commercial project in Jandakot involved restoring a concrete slab back to its original condition before new racking could be installed.

The slab still had numerous Ramset bolts left behind, so we over-cored each one to remove them cleanly and leave the slab ready for the next stage of the fit-out. I've always enjoyed core drilling, so it was great to be given the opportunity to take on this part of the job.

The client is enlarging their ensuite, which meant the existing concrete needed to be prepared before the next stage of the renovation.

For this residential job in Perth, we created a recess for the new screed and tiles using a series of dual-blade slither cuts with our dry concrete chaser and vacuum attachment to help keep dust to a minimum before jackhammering. We also cut out the concrete required for the new shower recess, leaving everything ready for the following trades.
