Some more VIPS we needed to secure the yard by completing boundaries to keep them safe!

This one was only a short 6.1m boundary to continue the old fences to secure the yard. We were able to complete this one on the way home from other works.

In previous posts I have commented about my amazing son and his willingness to help construct fences. Again he was lucky enough to spend some times with our clients pets, this time chooks and a duck. He was so impressed by them, he took photos and videos to show his mother when he returns to her care.
He was a great help again on this one, he helped mark out post location, picked up rail off cuts and helped to mix the concrete for the posts and cleaned up our gear from concreting. On day two he laid out palings for me to fix to the rails. I managed to get a couple sneaky pics of him helping mix some concrete and cleaning up the gear after getting the posts in. You make me so proud little man and I can't thank you enough for your ability to understand we need to work to earn money to do the things we love. Truly am blessed to have such an amazing young man in my life that I get to call son 🥰

Thanks again for the business it's truly appreciated and I look forward to the next opportunity and hopefully completing more boundaries for you in the future.

We got to enjoy some fantastic weather during the construction of this 1.8m NH lapped triple rail treated pine boundary.
This is fence two of three at property #2 for this young family. It was nice to get feedback about how straight the posts were and how they noticed the little differences between the fence we built and the previous ones done by others. It's the attention to the smallest of details that separate us from the rest.

My maim man attended this job with me. Again our amazing clients were very receptive of him being on site and He enjoyed the fastest internet speeds he has ever had use of. Thanks so much for giving him access to your wifi! It means so much to me to have him accepted as part of the package.

He was so well behaved, we live in Primrose Sands and it's almost a 90 minute drive to Kingston from home. Not once did he complain about the journey. On our return trips I commented both times how I think I've moved to far out, his response was no dad we haven't it's so worth it I love where we live.
He spent his time riding his scooter, playing fortnite on his switch and scrolling tiktok on his phone.
He is always enthusiastic and wanting to help. He was such a good assistant on this one. He helped me mark out for post location, gathered up all the post off cuts from trimming and the rail off cuts. We space our posts at 2.4m which means every rail has approximately 600mm trimmed. He then helped with getting palings off the trailer and to where they were needed. He then took care of final clean up by picking up all off cut palings from the final trim whilst I discussed and measured up for side boundaries and gates for quoting purposes. He earned his "Vbucks" that's gorgeous sure. Not once did he argue we struck a deal and he followed through and delivered with perfection. Even our clients commented on his behaviour and work ethic. Such an impressive young man. At age 7 he already accepts and understands we have to work to make money to do the things we love. I am so proud of the lil man and I can't thank him enough for his patience, understanding and willingness to work when in my care. Truly blessed 🥰
We took full advantage of being in Kingston and after work we headed to Blackman's Bay and the blow hole climbing cliffs taking pics and having loads of fun.

Thanks again for the work I truly appreciate it. Amazing clients are why I'm now living a life I don't need a vacation from.

We had some VIP, very important pets 😊, work recently. This one is work completed for an amazing client with a fantastic property providing a great country outlook.

We constructed a 10m x 4.5m dog yard in the back corner of the backyard for the two friendly dogs. We used "C" section posts with 1.2 x 2.4m 50x50mm square mesh with 150x25mm treated pine for top and bottom bracing. The weld mesh panels were secured using clipd and screws. We relocated the gate from the front entrance to the yard and clad with 50x50mm weld mesh tack welded onto the existing farm gate mesh. A D latch was installed to match other existing gates.

My son attended to assist with these works. He was absolutely thrilled when we arrived on site and he seen one of the VIPS was a sausage dog, his favourite dog breed, he was lucky enough to spend several hrs running around laughing and enjoying there company. It made me smile so much to see them following him and hearing his laughter. Thanks so much for allowing him to enjoy time with them. It blows my mind how welcoming my clients are to him and how much everyone caters for him. It means so much to me and I can't thank you enough for doing this.

Thank you for the business, we appreciate it very much

A couple boundary and side fences and gates completed in
Both the rear and side boundary fences are 1.8m NH lapped triple rail treated pine paling's.
The side fence is Horizontal slats 72mm treated pine with 20mm spacing. Posts are 75mm SHS. One post is fixed to the side of the house using anchor studs chemset into the brick work. Due to the desired location of the side fence and gate, right next to the meter box I was unable to face screw to the posts. I attached 30x30 angle to the posts and fixed the treated slats from the back. This then made the posts a feature rather than hiding behind the slats giving it a high end style found with far more expensive powder coated panel systems. This also enables the side panels to be removed easily for the client to stain the treated pine and paint the posts at a later date.
The in house fabricated gate is constructed from 50x50 SHS. D&D heavy duty self closing hinges attached to a 89x89 inground SHS post. The catch post is 75x75 SHS with a D&D gravity lock and latch.
On the other side of the house I fabricated another over size gate from 50x50 SHS 1.3m wide and attached it to a 89x89mm SHS posts with a set of D&D heavy duty self closing hinges. I love these hinges as they are rated to swing gates up to 450kg!
I attached a 75x75mm SHS post to the brickwork using chemset anchor studs. Another D&D gravity lock and latch was utilised on this side too.

Pretty pleased with the finished product. I can't thank the client enough. This job took much longer than it should of. We had rain delays, then I had to move house more delays when I was suffering from a migraine and then had to have eye surgery to remove a rusty piece of metal. We then had a variation with the gate and when fabricating the gate I lost power at my residence, Thanks Aurora 🤦‍♂️ anything that could go wrong seemed to.
Hours wise I was on track and there were no issues with the job itself I just had a shocking run.
Hours wise I was spot on what I estimated but the number of days this one dragged on for was unexpected. My client was very patient and understanding. The final results make it worth the wait. I'm biased but I believe they have the best looking side fences and gates in the street and will only look better once stained and painted.

Another amazing location with spectacular views. Lucky to have an ever changing office view, even though it can be a little bit of a distraction at times 😊

I was in for this install. This lovely couple needed to secure the yard for fur baby sitting duties.
I fabricated a set of double gates 1.2m tall clad with flat top pickets to secure the two meter opening on one side of the property. The gate frame is fabricated from 40x40 galvanised shs. Posts are 50x50x3mm galvanised shs with base plates and chemset studs into the brickwork and retaining wall to secure the posts and as always heavy duty ball bearing hinges.

To enable the puppy to enjoy the balcony I fabricated a gate to match the existing balustrade. The gate is fabricated from 40mm Nb tube with 10mm square pickets.

It was nice to receive the following text message from a very happy client.
"Thank you Corey for completing work on balcony gate. It looks amazing and very in keeping."

I was blessed with amazing views again in whilst installing this raked colorbond fence.
The clients had purchased the sheets and top hat some time ago with the intention of installing it themselves. Due to full time work and a busy home life with young children they simply never found the time. They contacted me for a quote to install. The clients removed the old 1.5m paling fence and cleared the fence line in preparation of the install.
I secured the top hat double rails to the old 5ft posts. The bottom of the sheets were trimmed to match the slope and I then attached the 1.8m sheets face screwing them to the top hat rails. The clients wanted to maintain as much height as possible. I trimmed the sheets ready for them to acquire capping and install themselves as requested.
I must admit it's a big improvement on the old paling fence they removed. It looks great from either side especially with the plants and trees in front of it.
There were a lot of sheets left over which they will now make raised garden beds from.

Thank you for choosing me to complete your installation, I really appreciate the business.

Another one completed close to home. This one is from

I was contacted via messenger regarding double gates that wouldn't close any more due to a misshap with a car 🤦‍♂️
I arrived and inspected and seen some bent hinges. I removed the hinges and straightened them. The gates still would align. I looked closer and notices the round timber posts were bowed.
The clients were happy to replace the gates with new ones but I felt it was an unnecessary expense. Sure the gates aren't made of the sized material I would personally fabricate them from and there have been some issues with sagging etc.
My recommendation was to replace the timber posts with 89x89mm shs posts. Replace the hinges with quality ball bearing hinges and upgrade the latches to gravity locks and latches.
The property is a double block so has two sets of double gates and both received the same upgrades.
The positive of the gates not being easy to open and close was the clients realising the inconvenience of such big double gates for pedestrians to enter the property. This in turn had them request a pedestrian gate be installed.
I fabricated the pedestrian gate from 50x50x2mm galvanised SHS and clad it with Windsor pickets to match the gates. I also installed a gravity lock and latch and heavy duty self closing hinges.
The client was absolutely stoked with the ease of operation of the double gates and the convenience the new pedestrian gate provides their family and guests.
Of course this has lead to discussions and quote request for other works at the property.
I truly am grateful for the opportunities I am given and the appreciation of the quality of my workmanship. So many clients become repeat customers for me and refer me to their friends and family. It says so much more than I ever could.

Thank you very much, enjoy your gates functioning as they should.

I got to enjoy the lovely outlook from near the golf course at whilst completing this Merbau deck extension for a very lovely couple.
We had a meeting to discuss and measure the extension. It was great to build the extension especially with the angle. It is a magnificent addition to the already great looking verandah.
They wanted the extension to enable them to soak up the sun's rays on the nice days. It's very close to 10m2 extension which I think has come up really nice. I'm very proud of this one and my clients were absolutely wrapped with the results.
We used 90mm pre oiled Merbau decking boards and 50mm stainless screws to match the existing deck.

It was another job completed with the clients present, they certainlylooked after me and ensured I was well fed! It was great to chat and get to know one another over the few days I spent there completing the job. They have already booked me in to do some new steps and a handrail at a later date. You know your clients happy when they are booking you in for more work when you're packing up your tools 😊
The client sourced the materials from Halts mitre 10 Sorell as they want to support local businesses.
There were some challenges and I did have to think a little due to the lengths of decking boards supplied. I think I did OK in the end and managed to blend it in very well.

Enjoy the rest of spring and summer on your new deck guys. Thanks again for the work, I really appreciate the opportunity 😊

I recently replaced this boundary fence for a wonderful client in
It was a fun job to complete, the old 1.5m paling fence was well beyond repair and not tall enough for a very enthusiastic dog who loves to jump up and see what's happening on this side of the fence. We replaced it with a 1.8m NH lapped triple rail treated pine paling fence.
The owner was lovely we spent a lot of time talking and she also provided me with a lot of assistance, I felt bad for charging her!
I had the pleasure of meeting some of her ferrets and it brought back a bunch of child hood memories for me. It reminded me of when I had ferrets and all the time my brother and I spent ferreting.
Funny how we grow up and forget about aspects of out life and the joy certain things would bring us. Makes me want to get a couple of ferrets and going rabbiting again 😂🤣
I truly am blessed with the locations and people I get to meet. Every job has its challenges but the views and people make it all worth it!

This project was completed in

We replaced the poorly made single gate and replaced it with a small section of 1.5m NH lapped triple rail treated pine paling fence. We installed two new 75x75x3 galvanised posts, fabricated a single gate from 50x50x2 SHS with weld on heavy duty ball bearing hinges and finished it off with a gravity lock and latch. Our lovely clients can now easily access their back yard without having to life the mower over the gate!

I also produced a timber balustrade for them. They sent me some photos of a couple different designs. I combined two of them. I used pink primed materials. It was nice to fabricate a timber balustrade. It has been a long time since I've had the opportunity to screw and glue timber.
Even though its only 950mm to the ground and a balustrade is not required to meet building code we still made sure everything was to code.
I used steel brackets fixed to the concrete with masonry screws. I painted the brackets prior to installation for them. 42x18mm pickets. 42mm gaps between the pickets then 120mm gap between each set of pickets. Rebated bottom and mid rails and a 90x30mm for the 1030mm finished hand rail height, no gap larger than 125mm. Lots of 18x18mm pine to fill the rebate between pickets.
Both clients and myself are very pleased with the finsihed product. It will look fantastic once it's painted! Thanks for the opportunity.

When our lovely client from contacted me on . My initial reaction to the photos was 🤦‍♂️ "oh Mr Hart what a mess!"

The collage in this post are photos of how bad the installation was. Posts held in with 1 dyna bolt 40mm conduit running up the wall on the street side of the gates. Tiny 50mm SHS posts the automated gates never had a chance to succeed. Poorly engineered!

First thing was to pull it all apart. The post next to the house I replaced with a 75x75x4mm SHS post bottom flanged to and fixed to the concrete drive with masonry screws. I braced it back to the brickwork using chemset anchor studs.
The other post I removed and replaced with 89×89×3.5mm in ground galvanised post with a 700mm deep concrete footing.
I reduced the conduit from the 40mm to 25mm flexi cable using bushes and routed it behind the post. I shortened the cables and reduced the conduit on the other side.
The door hinges were replaced with heavy duty ball bearing weld on hinges and bolted to the posts.
I removed the spring loaded wheels the previous installer added trying to get the gates to close correctly. If you have to add jockey wheels you have issues with your posts. The only time I'd consider it acceptable to add a jockey wheel would be if the gate exceeds 3m.
As you can see from the photos these changes made a big impact and the gate actually functions as it should and there is no funky over sided pipe floating around looking ugly.

During our initial meeting our amazing client advised she wanted to change the style of her front fence from a 1.8m raked picket fence to something that steps and she also wanted a style change that was more suited to the property.

This lead to use changing the cladding on the gates to solid panels with no gaps. Top and bottom fascias. The small return to the front of the property was also restyled to match. The pedestrian gate also received new cladding in the same style. The hinges were replaced on the pedestrian gate with self closing hinges and a gravity lock and latch. No more string required to open it from the outside of the property.
We used the existing 90mm pine posts and installed new rails. I went with 4 rails even though the fence is only 1.65m at the highest point. We clad with vertical slats with 30% visibility. Top and bottom fascias were also part of the change and we finished it off by capping the top of the fence. 72mm decking boards were used for the vertical slats. 90mm decking boards for fascias and capping.
Excuse the funky 90's style art work on the double gates. I reused as much of the previous gate cladding as possible to save a few dollars.
Can't wait to see how good it looks once its all painted white!

I keep saying it and I will again. It's the little things. The knowledge and experience from multiple industries, the fact we listen to our clients and understand what they want to achieve. It's those little things that separate us from our competitors. Every project we take on we treat it as if it was our own! We are proud of what we do and enjoy being challenged!

Thanks for choosing us to not only fix your gates but to change the style of them and your fence. Definitely one of my favourite projects to date!
