Tinonee Courthouse.
Over the past few years, AHR has been dedicated to restoring the historic Tinonee Court House. Originally built in 1898 as a police station with a courtroom, two goal cells, and a backyard field for horse stables, the building closed in 1936 and was used as a police residence until the 1990s. After years of neglect and vandalism, the property was purchased by its current owners in the early 2000s.
AHR was called upon to undertake extensive restoration works, including a new roof, window modifications, re-adaptive use of the courtyard, new skirtings, mouldings, trims, and wall and ceiling repairs using traditional lime render. Additional features such as new veranda’s, gaol doors, a custom timber kitchen, and traditionally installed tessellated tiles in the bathroom were also installed to enhance its historic character.
The owner’s dedication to heritage processes has resulted in a beautifully restored building. It has been a genuine pleasure for us to work on this project.
