Time to vent.
It is best practice that all rangehoods are vented to the atmosphere, not the roof cavity.
When making changes or replacing the rangehood above a gas stove, it must be vented to atmosphere to comply with new regulations.
A flue can be installed through the roof, side wall of the house, or even exit down through the eaves via a flexible metal duct.
