We were up at 4:45am to watch this and honestly I couldn’t be more impressed with this woman.

When Katie Taylor first started boxing, girls weren’t even allowed to fight, so she tucked her hair up, put on her headguard and got into the ring as a boy.

She said that as young as six she remembers dreaming of winning Olympic gold, at a time when women’s boxing wasn’t even an Olympic sport !!Years later, after helping pave the way for women’s boxing to be included, she stood on the Olympic podium with a gold medal around her neck.

And now, to watch her walk into Croke Park in front of more than 80,000 people for her final fight is just incredible.

I love what she has done for women and girls, and even more so, the way she has done it, with humility, faith, passion and quiet determination.

When asked the best advice she’d ever been given, she said there is no secret to success, but there is a path: work hard and stay committed. She certainly has. An absolute inspiration.

After 30 years in the ring, I can’t imagine a more fitting way to end. So very well deserved.

There is nothing to fear in the act of beginning. More often than not it knows the journey ahead better than we ever could. Perhaps the art of harvesting the secret riches of our lives is best achieved when we place profound trust in the act of beginning. Risk might be our greatest ally. To live a truly creative life, we always need to cast a critical look at where we presently are, attempting always to discern where we have become stagnant and where new beginning might be ripening. There can be no growth if we do not remain open and vulnerable to what is new and different. I have never seen anyone take a risk for growth that was not rewarded a thousand times over.

And there was I thinking I’d coined the phrase practice the pause!

Nevertheless, being able to pause is a gamechanger. In that small space, we get some agency back — the opportunity to choose how we respond, rather than simply react.

You might think that’s impossible right now, but it’s a skill that can be learned through practice.

For many people, the difficulty is that they aren’t aware of the build-up until it’s too late. And that’s really normal. When we’ve been stressed or overwhelmed for a long time, we can lose connection with our body’s signals — or may never have learned to recognise them in the first place.

An important part of regulation work is interoception — noticing what’s happening inside your body in real time. The tightening in your chest. The change in your breathing. Your jaw beginning to clench. The tension creeping into your shoulders.

The more we learn to notice those earlier signals, the more opportunity we have to respond before we reach boiling point.

Practice the pause.

We spend so much of life waiting. Waiting until things settle down. Until we’re more confident. Until we’re less anxious, less busy, more certain. When, then thinking.

But life isn’t waiting for us.

Maybe it’s time to stop waiting, and start living the life we truly want to live.

Ireland has lost one of its finest. I can't quite believe it.

I've always admired Glen Hansard, not only for the music he gave the world, but for the way he seemed to move through it. There was a quiet humility, generosity and authenticity in the way he lived. He used whatever influence he had to make life a little better for others, and never forgot where he came from.

Thank you for the incredible music, the kindness, and the reminder that how we live matters just as much as what we achieve.

Go raibh suaimhneas síoraí air. May he have eternal peace.

🌿 Embodied Regulation classes start back this week. 🌿

Our Monday classes start again tonight, and I'm delighted they're full. I still have a small number of places available in the Wednesday 6:00 pm class in Padbury, so if you've been thinking about joining us, this is a great time to get started.

In a world that constantly encourages us to do more, achieve more, and keep pushing, these classes offer an opportunity to practise something different... to slow down, tune in, and care for your nervous system.

Each week we combine gentle yoga movement, breathwork, mindfulness, somatic practices, and practical nervous system education in a way that's accessible, supportive, and grounded in science.

My hope is that you'll leave feeling more settled, more connected to yourself, and better equipped to navigate whatever life brings.

🌿 Term 3 is almost here... we start back next week! 🌿

A new term is a wonderful opportunity to pause, reset, and make a little more space for yourself.

I'm delighted to welcome our lovely community back. All classes are now full, with the exception of a small number of places available at the Wednesday 6:00 pm class in Padbury.

If you've been thinking about joining, this is the perfect time to begin.

These classes are about so much more than stretching. They offer 75 minutes (because an hour is just not enough!) each week to slow down, reconnect with your body, and simply be.

More than a yoga class, they're an opportunity to learn practical, evidence-informed ways to regulate your nervous system. That's why I call them "Embodied Regulation" classes. They blend gentle movement, evidence-informed somatic practices, breathwork, mindfulness, and nervous system education, giving you practical skills that stay with you long after you roll up your mat.

Each class is designed to help you leave feeling more grounded, more connected to yourself, and better able to navigate whatever life brings.

Whether you're feeling stressed, overwhelmed, anxious, stuck, lonely, or simply longing for some time that's truly yours, you'll be warmly welcomed.
