Little moments from the days on days of tree planting out in the Wheatbelt 🌾

The true stars of the show: Honey & Zac 🐶🦺🌱

Let’s be honest, THIS is the content I’ve been waiting for.

The backbone of the operation. The unpaid workforce. The four-legged field crew. The woofers on the ground. 🐾

Their duties include:
🐶 Supervising tree unloading by standing directly in the way
🐶 Digging holes — mostly where holes are NOT required
🐶 Conducting rigorous snack quality control
🐶 Providing essential morale support (throw the ball. NOW.)
🐶 Performing random high-speed site inspections
🐶 Taking regular WHS breaks in the ute
🐶 Sleeping on the job whenever management isn't looking

Not on payroll, but somehow always on smoko. 😂

10/10 workers. 0/10 productivity. Would hire again. 🐾

52,000 Eucalyptus camaldulensis delivered and ready to go! 🌱

A huge shoutout to our local Albany grower Form Forests who are producing some seriously high-quality seedlings. Growing tens of thousands of healthy trees is no small feat, and it's an important part of making projects like this possible.

These 52,000 are the second delivery contributing to our project of planting 1.1 million trees over the next six weeks in the Western Australian Wheatbelt. Every tray unloaded is another step towards restoring landscapes and creating habitat for generations to come.

Now it's our turn to get them in the ground! 💪🌿

Ever wondered how you plant thousands of trees without spending all day bent over? 🌱

Meet the Pottiputki – a clever planting tool from Finland that lets us plant seedlings while standing up. Pop it into the ground, drop in a seedling, close the hole with your boot, and on to the next one.

It's oddly satisfying, surprisingly fast, and after a few thousand trees, your back will definitely thank you. 🌿

Every tree starts with one simple step... then another... and another. 💚

They're only little now, but don't let that fool you. 🌱

The first few days of our biggest planting project yet are well underway, and it's pretty exciting to see these tiny seedlings finding their new home. Over the coming weeks, they'll be joined by more than a million mates, all helping restore habitat, store carbon, improve soil health, and life back to the landscape.

It's dirty, repetitive, and your back definitely reminds you who's boss... but it's hard to beat a day's work when you can point at a paddock and say, "We planted that."

Here's to the first few days—and many more trees to come. 💚

This week marks the start of Wattle Wonderful World's biggest venture yet! 🌱

We're out near Southern Cross, Western Australia, helping plant 1.1 million trees as part of a large-scale carbon offset project.

Today we received our first shipment of 220,000 saplings—Eucalyptus salubris and Eucalyptus salmonophloia. It's safe to say that many hands (and paws 🐾) make light work! 💪🏾

We're incredibly grateful for this opportunity and so excited to be working alongside a team of passionate, hardworking, and equally crazy people.

Who heads out to the edge of the Wheatbelt to spend their days planting trees?

We do. And we wouldn't have it any other way. 🌿💚

Pardon the delay! But we're back with Plant of the Week. And this week's pick is one of my all time favourites!

Introducing....
Nuytsia floribunda

Also known as the Western Australian Christmas tree, and as Moodjar to the Noongar peoples, this magical piece of wonder and awe is capturing attention at the moment with its remarkable vibrant flowers.

Some Fun Facts for you:

🌼 Nuytsia floribunda derives its name from how profusely and abundantly it flowers, with awe inspiring clouds of yellow-orange inflorescence.
The genus 'Nuytsia' was named in honour of the Dutch explorer and official from the 1600s, Pieter Nuyts, and as a monotypic plant, meaning it is the only species in the genus.

✨ The Moodjar tree is deeply sacred to the Noongar peoples of the South West. During its flowering, the Moodjar represents departing spirits, and it is a profound reminder of the interconnectedness of all of life. It is important not to pick the flowers, or disturb the tree at all, especially during the flowering cycle.

💦 The Christmas Tree belongs to the mistletoe family, and is a 'hemiparasitic' plant, meaning they extract water and other essential nutrients from the roots of other nearby plants. They have been known to cut into cables and water pipes with their vice grip like root systems in search of water.

This marvelous masterpiece was spotted on an afternoon stroll around town and we had to stop to stand in awe of its beauty 😍

Also introducing our puppy Honey and Larisse's dad on a trip over from Peru 😊
