In The Country

When people say they enjoy being ‘in the country’, I completely understand. Learning that country should be treated like a family member makes complete sense. By getting closer to country, we will learn lots, understand how to look after her better, enjoy her beauty and love her more.

A deck made from Ironwood by is the perfect spot to spend a moment, or an afternoon.

Keeping it Simple #2

A master class in composition, this building by is greater than the sum of its parts. To compliment the refined architecture we paired back the planting and material selection.

Clipped mounds of Helichrysum petiolare (Liquorice plant) frame the stone entry path and textural river pebbles ground the building.

Out the back planting tones reflect the buildings materiality and hard lines of the boundary will continue to dissolve into planting.

Sometimes what you leave out is just as important.

Connecting to Nature

A favourite of ours, we renovated this pool and garden many years ago. Sitting by the bay, watched over by a large sandstone outcrop it was a serene, beautiful outlook

Our guiding principle was simply to enhance the connection to this place.
We let the sand, stone and water determine the material palette and limited new interventions.

Native Cupaniopsis (Tuckeroos) provide shelter and Westringia (Coastal Rosemary) and Casuarina (Green Wave) soften the edge of the outcrop.

Nature is timeless.

Shadow Play

We spend a lot of time trying as hard as we can to make things as beautiful as possible, with lots of thought about materials and composition.

The best moments are often the ones the didn't anticipate. The shadows make this garden in Mosman even more magical.

Keeping It Simple

We worked on this garden in Longueville in conjunction with Their work is always elegant. To compliment their approach to the architecture, we paired down the palette.

Betula pendula (Tropical Birch) are underplanted with Elaeagnus pungens and Viola hederacea (Native Violet). Trachelospermum and Syzigium frame the garden.

Hand made pots by Cameron Williams add texture and a sculptural element to the garden. We have based the design of these pots on raku tea bowls.

Mostly the best thing to do is say as little as possible.
