We are incredibly proud to share that Lumina Gold Coast has officially achieved a 6 Star Green Star Design & As-Built v1.3 Certification from the Green Building Council of Australia!

Representing the highest achievable rating, this milestone crowns RDX as the Gold Coast’s very first commercial building of its kind to earn this honour, establishing a new standard for sustainable healthcare and innovation infrastructure. As the architects, interior designers, and clinical planners for this Centre of Excellence, the ARCH team designed the 9-storey facility to blend fluidity with dynamic form. Its striking glazed “skirt” curtain wall floods the spaces with natural light while connecting the site’s design to the coastal character and hinterland ecology of the Yugambeh language-speaking nation.

Congratulations to Vital Healthcare Property Trust (VHP), dsquared Consulting, Icon and the entire team for their collective dedication to achieving this precinct-shaping goal.

ARCH is embarking on an exciting new chapter of national . As we broaden our specialist capabilities nationwide, we are elevating two of our senior leaders into dedicated National Sector Leader roles: Ivana Simkovic ( & ) and Rebecca Plumsted ( ).

This strategic shift has created a significant opportunity for us to appoint new Studio Leaders to drive our local operations and continue the momentum of our practice. These are a direct result of our “ ” framework, a development roadmap that ensures we consistently cultivate and advance our top-tier talent from within.

Congratulations to Kelly Lau, Sean Logue, David Carstens and Felipe Strahovsky. We are proud to see our team step into these roles as we continue to put people at the heart of our design.

It’s been an outstanding week for our team as we celebrate our third award from the Australian Institute of Architects (AIA).
At the 2026 AIA NSW State Awards, the ARCH designed Gunnedah Hospital Redevelopment received the Colorbond Award.
ARCH is delighted that the Institute and Colorbond have honoured a project that holds such significance for us. As Sacha Anderson, architect, expressed so eloquently in her acceptance speech:
“Having grown up myself in a regional area, I could understand the profound effect that investment in hospital infrastructure can have on the health and wellbeing outcomes for a regional community.
Outcomes like this result from interdisciplinary talent collaborating to build trust with the local community and clinical users, working alongside our amazing clients at Health Infrastructure and the Hunter New England Local Health District. I'd also really like to commend the work of Richard Crookes Constructions, who built the project, and the precision installation of the Colorbond facade by LJR, whose workmanship I really struggled to defect.
After four years of involvement in this project from inception to completion, it's been so lovely to hear that this facility has been warmly welcomed by the community, with such great pride. And I really enjoyed sharing this experience, the process, and the built results with the jury: Tom, Annie, and Gabby.
In this project, I'm most proud of the level of cultural safety achieved in the design via our consultation and collaboration with the local Kamilaroi mob, resulting in a building that's a really wonderful example of how a contemporary health facility can be both inclusive and welcoming, and provide healing and home with family on one's country.”

Thrilled to announce that the ARCH designed Bundaberg Aquatic Centre has received an AIA Queensland Public Architecture Award Commendation! This is fantastic recognition for an outstanding community recreation facility.

​"We are honoured to receive this commendation, which reflects the shared vision and collaborative spirit of the ARCH design team, Stantec, consultant team, Bundaberg Regional Council, and the local community. This new World Aquatics competition-standard aquatic centre is a vibrant place for families, athletes and the community. The 10-lane 50m pool is the heart of this new civic landmark with outstanding amenities for both locals and visitors.

The building creates a new benchmark for covered outdoor pools that can protect users from weather and UV. This enables year-round enjoyment for active recreation during the hottest months and provides elite athletes with a premier local facility to compete and train. We are proud to have helped shape a community asset that will enrich Bundaberg for generations." Scott Chapple, ARCH Executive Director

The Property Council of Australia for over 50 years has been the sector advocate and it is the well trusted voice for the industry, so the question prompted thoughtful consideration and sparked several conversations.

We are thrilled to share a update on our work with the Conservation Society Australia. As construction of the new Taronga Wildlife Hospital takes shape, the vision for a world-class centre of veterinary excellence and immersive public experience is becoming a reality.

To meet the growing need for global conservation leadership, Taronga required an advanced platform that could simultaneously accelerate wildlife recovery and ignite public passion for nature through transparent, "real-time" science. In partnership with Stephen Edwards Constructions, we are building an advanced teaching hospital. This isn't just a clinical space; it’s a sustainable design that invites visitors to witness the journey of recovery firsthand, bridging the gap between the public and conservation medicine.

Upon its late 2026 opening, the hospital will serve as a premier visitor and education hub. By upskilling the nation’s veterinary practitioners and providing students with unparalleled training, we are ensuring a legacy of expertise that protects Australia’s unique biodiversity for generations to come.

Great civic design brings communities together, creating places that are active, inclusive, and built for everyday life.

Designed as a vibrant community hub, the Bundaberg Aquatic Centre brings together competition and leisure pools, family-friendly water play, and flexible spaces that support health, recreation, and social connection. The design responds to Bundaberg’s climate and lifestyle, integrating shade, natural ventilation, and strong connections to landscape to create a resilient facility for all ages and abilities.

The ARCH team wish Scott Chapple well as he showcases the project to AIA jurors next week.

A fantastic opportunity to showcase how well-designed community infrastructure can enhance wellbeing and strengthen regional identity.

Designing for mental health requires a careful balance – creating spaces that are safe, therapeutic, and deeply human.

Purpose-designed to support recovery within a highly secure environment, the Gold Coast University Hospital Secure Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit integrates clinical rigour with a strong focus on dignity. Through access to natural light, landscaped courtyards, and thoughtfully scaled spaces, the design supports both consumer wellbeing and staff care, while meeting complex operational and security requirements.
