TA’ARU VILLAGE SOLAR PROJECT

We have taken on a mighty task to light up a remote Ta’aru Village in the South Malaita Constituency. On a recent trip to the village in which we stayed there for a month. We quickly realised that lighting at nights was the biggest obstacle which villagers faced every night.

Villagers had acquired little 20 watt solar panels with a 7 Ah battery and a 2 watt or so light bulb that really did not produce much light. Some had batteries damaged due to over charging as there was no charge controller in the setup.

Eighth households have been identified that will need proper solar setups designed and built and installed for them.

Our task now is to acquire secondhand solar panels from Australia which we have got already and are in the process of building solar systems for each of the eight households. All these is done at no cost what so ever to the households. Other components from the setup will be donated by electrical companies that we have contacts with in Australia.
