Pulled a system off a Karalee roof on Monday.
Installing solar is straightforward when you’ve done it enough. You control the variables — layout, cable runs, mount placement. You build it right from the start.
Removal is a different job. By the time a system comes down, it’s been through 10 to 15 summers. Mounting brackets corrode into the frame. Cables harden and go brittle. You’re working around a roof that’s been aging underneath it the whole time.
You can’t rush it. Force anything and you’re looking at a roof repair on top of a solar job.
The installs are satisfying. The removals are where you learn the trade.
If your system is ageing or you’re looking at an upgrade, make sure whoever quotes you has done both.
