Over time, veranda posts can deteriorate due to moisture exposure, timber rot, termite activity, and general weathering.

What may start as a small crack, soft spot, or slight movement can eventually compromise the structural integrity and appearance of your veranda.

Replacing damaged veranda posts not only improves the safety and stability of your outdoor area but also helps protect your home from further structural issues.

At Conor's Carpentry, we assess existing posts, remove damaged timber, and install quality replacements designed to withstand the elements and restore the strength and appearance of your veranda.

If you've noticed signs of deterioration or simply want peace of mind, contact us for an inspection and professional advice.

After 40 years, we're going to replace this worn-out jarrah veranda with a well-deserved upgrade with a high-quality merbau deck.

Merbau is a cost-effective alternative to jarrah, offering exceptional durability, strength, and a rich colour profile that closely resembles traditional jarrah. As an extremely hard timber, merbau is well suited to outdoor environments and performs particularly well in areas exposed to moisture and changing weather conditions.

This project will not only refresh the look of the space but also provide a long-lasting, low-maintenance outdoor area built to stand the test of time.

This week we transformed this hallway by enclosing the laundry area, creating a cleaner, more functional layout while improving the overall look of the space.

By framing out and finishing above the doorway, the area now feels intentional and tidy - no more exposed or unfinished sections.

Small structural changes like this can make a big difference in how a home flows.

If you’re looking to improve your layout or make better use of your space, we can help. Send us a message with your project details and we can start! 📩

What started as a cold, empty shed has been transformed into a warm, comfortable and inviting hangout space - all in under four days 🏡🛋

A lot of planning, effort and attention to detail went into turning a bare, unused area into a functional space that’s now ready to be enjoyed.

It’s a great example of how quickly a vision can come to life with the right approach and a bit of hard work 😉 💪🏼

This week we changed a curved tin roof to a straight tin roof 🏠

Did you know tin roofing is often a better fit for Australian homes than tiles?

Tin sheets are lighter, handle extreme heat better, and are far more suited to heavy rain. They’re tough, reliable, and don’t crack or shift like tiles can.

And luckily… we got it all done just before the rain came through 😉

Another week, another boat project ⚓️

This one’s been a good test of creativity — because let’s be honest, nothing on a boat is ever straight, square, or where you expect it to be.

Working through tight spaces and tricky angles keeps things interesting, and it’s all about taking the time to get the details right. Bit by bit, it all starts coming together.

Always good to be doing something a little different 👌

Another termite damage repair completed 🐜🔨

By the time you notice termites, the damage is often already done.
Hidden inside walls, floors, and structural timber.

Common signs:
• Hollow-sounding timber
• Mud tubes along walls
• Sagging floors or doors
• Timber dust

What we carried out:
🛠 Removed all damaged timber
🛠 Replaced with treated materials
🛠 Restored structural integrity

All works completed after termite treatment was carried out.

If you suspect damage or have recently had treatment done, it’s best to act early.

Another happy customer 😊

We were asked to extend an existing fence, making sure the new section blended seamlessly with what was already there.

With careful planning and the right materials, we matched the original pattern to keep everything looking consistent.

Really proud of how this one turned out — once it’s painted, you won’t even be able to tell where the extension begins.

Quality work is all about the details. 🔨

Termite Damage? Here’s Why It Happens — and How to Prevent It

🔎 Termites love timber
Termites feed on cellulose, which is found in timber and other plant materials. That’s why structural timber in homes is one of their favourite food sources.

💧 Moisture attracts termites
Leaking pipes, poor drainage, or damp areas around your home can attract termites. Moist timber is much easier for them to chew through.

🏠 They work silently
Termites can cause serious structural damage without obvious signs. Many infestations go unnoticed for months or even years.

⚠️ Signs you might have termites:

Hollow-sounding timber

Mud tubes along walls or foundations

Sagging doors or floors

Small piles of timber dust

🛠 What you can do:

Get regular termite inspections

Repair leaks and moisture issues quickly

Keep firewood and mulch away from your home

Ensure good ventilation under the house

✅ How to prevent termite damage:

Install termite barriers

Maintain good drainage around the property

Avoid direct soil-to-timber contact

Book professional pest inspections annually
