DJ Buckley Builders is a family-owned building company based in Toowoomba, Queensland, and we’re looking for an energetic and enthusiastic Junior Receptionist to join our friendly team!

✨ About the Role
This is a great opportunity for someone looking to start or grow their career in administration and reception within a supportive team environment.

We’re looking for someone who has:
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent customer service skills
• Great organisational and multitasking abilities
• Competency in Microsoft Outlook and Word
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, spreadsheets, and data entry
• Good typing skills
• A willingness to learn new skills
• Self-motivation and a reliable attitude

Duties will include:
• Reception and general administration
• Answering telephone calls
• Filing and data entry
• Email correspondence
• Invoicing

Casual Hours
Flexible hours available to suit the right applicant
Monday to Friday

Over the last 6 months, we've had the privilege of working with Queensland Fire Department to deliver three new fire stations to the communities of Mount Alford, Biddaddaba, and Biggenden. 🚒

Projects like these are only possible thanks to the hard work and dedication of our incredible team, along with the commitment and expertise of our subcontractors. A huge thank you to everyone involved!

We hope these new stations provide a place for each brigade to grow, strengthen their teams, and continue protecting their local communities when they're needed most.

Last week’s toolbox talk was led by our very own Professor Smolenski, aka “Smelly.” 👨‍🏫🔨

After one of our apprentices asked about the best way to sharpen their chisels, we thought it was the perfect opportunity to run through the process with all of the apprentices and give our tradies a refresher as well.

It was also a rare chance to get the whole team together in one place, enjoy a BBQ breakfast, and kick off the day with a bit of learning and plenty of laughs🍳☕️

Celebrating 10 years with DJB 🎉

Ray has spent an incredible 48 years in the industry, bringing experience, dedication and leadership to every project he’s part of. From his very first project, a lawyer’s Office refurbishment, to the many jobs he’s helped deliver since joining DJB, Ray has always taken pride in doing the best work possible for both the client and the company.

For Ray, the biggest challenges on site have been keeping teams safe, motivated and working together on large projects, something he handles with the steady leadership that comes from decades of experience.
When asked about his greatest achievement, Ray says it’s having a happy marriage and the close relationship he built with his stepchildren, which has only grown stronger over time.
What he values most about DJB is the family feel and support across the company, where everyone’s voice is heard and valued.

Ray’s advice for those starting out in the industry:
Watch experienced tradies, ask questions, and never be afraid to speak up, the dumbest question is the one you don’t ask.

This year, we’re committed to creating more opportunities for our team to connect, check in, and support one another — and what better way to start those conversations than wearing our TradeMutt shirts every Friday.

TradeMutt is helping make mental health conversations visible in the blue-collar community through their bold “conversation starter” workwear, with profits supporting free counselling services through TIACS.

We want every one of our crew to feel supported, heard, and valued — on and off the tools. Because looking after your mental health is just as important as looking after your physical health.
