QLD Flood Watch: South East Queensland, Condamine and Border Rivers

Details:

QLD Flood Watch: South East Queensland, Condamine and Border Rivers

Issued at 12:56 pm EST on Thursday 6 March 2025

Flood Watch Number: 5

WIDESPREAD MINOR TO MAJOR FLOODING WITH SIGNIFICANT LOCALISED FLOODING LIKELY LATER THIS WEEK

Rainfall associated with Tropical Cyclone Alfred has the potential to cause major flooding along Queensland coastal rivers from Maryborough to the NSW Border, and across the Condamine and Border Rivers area.

Isolated flooding may develop from Friday morning, with more widespread flooding likely from overnight Friday into Saturday, continuing into early next week.

The location of the heaviest rainfall and most severe flooding will depend on the track of Tropical Cyclone Alfred. Heavy and locally intense rainfall is forecast from Thursday night over South East Queensland and across the Condamine and Border Rivers area, as the Tropical Cyclone approaches the coast late Friday. The heaviest rainfall will be south of the Tropical Cyclone track.

Catchments are dry to moderately wet across the Flood Watch area.

High tides and large waves are expected to increase the flood risk and impacts in low lying coastal areas.

Rapid and dangerous river level rises and flash flooding are expected across many creeks, associated with the heaviest rainfall. Widespread minor to major riverine flooding is possible. Areas at risk will continue to be revised during the coming days.

Catchments likely to be affected include:
Mary River

Noosa River

Sunshine Coast Rivers and Creeks

Pine and Caboolture Rivers

Upper Brisbane River

Lower Brisbane River
(Including creeks in Ipswich and Brisbane)

Logan and Albert Rivers

Gold Coast Rivers and Creeks

Condamine Rivers

Macintyre River
(including Dumaresq River and Macintyre Brook)

Weir River

Problem solved thanks to Bob from Cornerstone Law Offices who donated $500 to buy my second eyebrow so I don’t have to walk around wonky-faced after the World's Greatest Shave shave on 21 March at Windaroo Golf Club.
Still looking for more donors to meet our team target of $5000.
