RTK Survey – How It Works

RTK (Real-Time Kinematic) Survey is a high-precision GNSS surveying method that provides 1–3 cm accuracy in real time. A base station receives satellite signals and sends correction data to a rover receiver, allowing the rover to calculate an extremely accurate position instantly. RTK is widely used for construction layout, road projects, topographic surveys, and land mapping.

RL Calculation (Trigonometric Method)

This method is used in total station surveying to determine the Reduced Level (RL) of a target point using a measured slope distance and vertical angle.

Formula:

ΔV = S × cos(Vz)

RL(Target) = RL(Benchmark) + HI + ΔV − HR

From the example:

Benchmark RL = 100.000 m

Instrument Height (HI) = 1.450 m

Prism Height (HR) = 1.600 m

Vertical difference (ΔV) = 0.478 m

Calculated Result: New RL = 100.328 m

This method provides accurate elevation measurements for construction, road, and land surveying projects.
