Throwback to 2015, when we designed a house for under €1,000 per sqm of usable space, positioned at the edge of urban sprawl where the city gives way to the rural landscape.
A lightweight greenhouse structure completes the building profile, acting as an additional skin wrapped around an already well-insulated main house. This intermediate climate zone improves thermal comfort throughout the year: capturing solar gains during colder months while buffering the dwelling from wind and rain.
In summer, the greenhouse can be opened up completely, transforming it into a naturally ventilated, multifunctional space above the house—a place to catch the first rays of sun in Belgium’s typically gloomy weather. It also serves as a refuge for oversized plants sourced from local classifieds: plants that had outgrown their owners and found a second life in this in-between space.

A unique plot. Only one level allowed. Neighbors all around. A church and cemetery quietly watching. So instead of fighting the constraints, we embraced them.
We turned the house inside out.
The villa opens not to the street, but to itself — a generous central courtyard, wrapped in covered terraces. This hidden heart becomes the only dialogue with the outside world. Light filters in, views are framed, privacy is protected.
What you see from the outside is restrained. What you experience inside is expansive. A home shaped by limits, made powerful by intention.
Mystery by design.

In the village of Incourt, we designed a small village within the village. Each function finds its place around a central patio, inspired by the surrounding building fabric and local scale. A quiet dialogue between architecture, context, and community.

Sketch design exploring the blur between inside and outside 🌿✨ A simple set of gestures—walls and glass—shapes a home where boundaries dissolve, letting light and space flow freely. A single-family house reimagined as a diffuse, ethereal setting, where architecture meets atmosphere.

This house is so private that describing it almost feels intrusive. From the street, one can only guess at the configuration of this single-family home—its openness hinted at only on the garden side. At night, light spills from behind the walls and washes across the first-floor façade through a series of patios.

The plan consists of two mirrored, stacked L-shaped volumes. The space created beneath this stack forms the living and dining areas, embraced by the garden on one side and a serene patio on the other.
Inside, carefully composed sightlines connect the everyday functions of the home, allowing its inhabitants to feel together without necessarily occupying the same room.

The design pushes the boundaries between inside and outside by extending the rhythm of the façades inward, forming a paravent-like structure that separates the kitchen and office from the living and dining areas without obstructing views toward the garden. Upstairs, three bedrooms and a centrally positioned bathroom are arranged around a generous landing, creating a calm and connected private realm.

What do you do when a plot opens up right across from your childhood home in a 1970s neighborhood? You seize the opportunity, hire Studio Okami, and begin shaping your dream family dwelling—with an ecological twist. Before long, Okami delivers a design with a remarkable winter-summer configuration: compact and efficient in winter mode, expansive in summer, with a cantilevered roof that shields you from direct sunlight and the ever-unpredictable Belgian weather.
The ground floor is conceived as an adult haven: a beautiful kitchen flowing seamlessly into a generous terrace and lush garden, and a spacious living and dining area that connect effortlessly. The office sits semi–sous-sol with its own patio garden—a strategy repeated for the master bedroom and ensuite bathroom, which open onto an airy patio complete with an outdoor shower.
Upstairs, the layout revolves around a children’s play area, flanked by three bedrooms, a bathroom, and a laundry zone. A monolithic spiral staircase leads to this floor while subtly filtering views from the entrance below. Natural light pours in through a large sky dome above the stairs, complemented by low, discreet windows concealed from the street. A hidden door offers access to the roof terrace, where a dedicated planting area allows the family to grow their own plants and flowers.

We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have worked on the extensive renovation and expansion of this beautiful barn in the peaceful countryside. Transforming it into a tranquil retreat where our client and her adult children can come together to unwind, reminisce, and dream about the future has been an absolute honor.

Thank you for trusting us with this meaningful project—it has been a privilege to bring your vision to life.
