Before we can install an interior waterproofing wrap, the finished basement materials along the walls need to be removed.

This can include drywall, insulation, vapour barrier, the lower portion of the studs and any flooring or floor coverings that interfere with the work.

It might not be the prettiest stage of the project, but it’s an important one!

Water Problem or Foundation Problem? Not every cinder block foundation is the same.

🌧️ Waterproofing helps manage water entering through the foundation and directs it toward a drainage system.

🧱 Core pours involve filling the hollow cells inside the concrete blocks with concrete to help reinforce the foundation.

Sometimes a foundation needs one, sometimes the other, and sometimes it needs both. The important part is understanding what’s actually happening before deciding on the right repair.

The rainy weather is here and it’s starting to make exterior projects a bit more challenging!

We want to reassure everyone with exterior work scheduled that your job will be completed. We just ask for a little patience and understanding as we work around the weather.

Exterior waterproofing wraps require suitable conditions and we cannot complete the work while it’s raining or when rain is expected. Sometimes that means adjusting the schedule to make sure the job is done properly and safely.

A lot of the work involved in interior waterproofing ends up underneath the basement floor.

We excavate a trench along the foundation wall down to the footing, install a perforated drainage pipe surrounded by clear stone, and connect the system to a sump pit. The foundation wall is also protected with a dimple membrane, which helps direct water down toward the drainage system.

Once everything is in place, the trench is covered back up with new concrete. When it's finished, most of the system is hidden from view, but that's exactly where you want it. Working quietly underneath your basement floor instead of on top of it 💧

You don't necessarily need inches of standing water to have a moisture issue in your basement. A damp foundation wall, repeated seepage, condensation or high humidity can all contribute to a basement environment where mold can grow.

When a poured concrete foundation is cracked and allowing water through, simply smearing sealant over the surface isn't always enough.

For suitable cracks, an interior injection repair allows us to work directly into the crack itself.

The area is prepared, injection ports are installed along the crack, and repair material is injected under pressure. The material works its way through the crack, filling the pathway where water can travel and sometimes exiting through the other side.

It's a controlled repair process designed to address the crack, because there's a big difference between hiding and fixing.
