One of the projects currently taking shape in our shop: acoustic DLT panels for the new Winskill Aquatic & Fitness Centre in .

DLT’s ability to be machined into custom acoustic profiles makes it possible to combine structural performance with an architectural and acoustic finish—one of the many applications we enjoy exploring with mass timber.

Designed by the talented and , the new centre is slated for completion in 2028.

We’re looking forward to seeing our DLT become part of this new community space.

Acoustic performance is becoming an increasingly important part of mass timber design—and we’re currently working on DLT projects with acoustic profiles.

Acoustic DLT uses a profiled surface on the underside of the panels to help manage sound within a space, while also creating a distinctive architectural finish.

One of the advantages of DLT is its design flexibility. Unlike many other mass timber systems, DLT can be machined into specialized profiles, allowing the structural panel to also contribute to the acoustic and visual character of the space.

We’re looking forward to seeing these projects come together.

At International Timberframes, we also offer installation services—and that experience makes a difference even when your own crew is doing the installation.

Because we install our own timberframes and mass timber systems, we know what needs to happen on site, what can become challenging, and where potential issues can arise. That means we can anticipate the needs of the installation crew, prepare accordingly, and help make sure everything arrives ready to go.

Even if we’re not the crew putting it together, our hands-on installation experience helps us design, fabricate and package with the jobsite in mind.

Good installation starts long before the first panel or timber is lifted.

The latest issue of Award Magazine is out, featuring the annual Engineered Wood Update — and Sigi Liebmann has a few things to say.

As mass timber continues to evolve, the conversation is moving beyond simply choosing wood as a building material. It’s about how we design, manufacture, assemble and ultimately think about the life of a building.

In the article, Sigi shares his perspective on DLT, prefabrication, embodied carbon, circularity and the growing role of wood in delivering more sustainable building solutions.

We’re glad to be part of the conversation — and even more glad to keep pushing it forward.

A decade of weekends in a trailer on 500 acres of Elk River ranchland. Watching the elk, the grizzlies, the sunrises. Learning the land before building on it.

When this couple outside of Fernie, BC were finally ready to build their dream mountain home, they knew exactly what they wanted — and they hand-selected every reclaimed timber to make it happen.

International Timberframes worked alongside the owners and Black Pine Builders to carefully plan and install the reclaimed timber frame — beam by beam, joint by joint. The result was featured in as a study in what happens when craft, patience, and an uncompromising vision all meet in the same room.

Rustic, but never rough. Reclaimed, but built to last generations. This is what timber framing looks like when the people building it care as much as the people living in it.

That was the late 90s. He never left.
