What you see on the outside is only part of the story. With moisture damage affecting the original rear elevation, this project required just as much attention to what was happening behind the finished surfaces as it did to the new exterior.

Our team thoroughly addressed the flashing, peel-and-stick details, and other components of the building envelope to ensure everything was properly installed to code and designed to help prevent future moisture issues.

We clad the exterior with James Hardie smooth panels and rough-sawn battens to create a clean, timeless board-and-batten look. The updated exterior gives the back of the home a fresh appearance while providing a durable finish designed to stand up to the elements. It is the kind of work that may not always be visible once a project is complete, but it makes a lasting difference in the performance and longevity of the home.

A beautiful space is even better when you can enjoy it all year long!

This addition features 2x6 wood-framed construction with real plywood sheathing and 2x10 dressed fir roof rafters that were left exposed to create a warm, character-filled ceiling. Painted shiplap between the rafters provides a finished look while allowing the electrical and lighting to be tucked neatly into the ceiling design.

The walls and ceiling were insulated with 2-lb. spray foam, while triple-pane, low-E LUX windows and Velux triple-pane skylights bring in plenty of natural light while helping keep the space comfortable in every season. We also installed a Quik Trak hydronic heating system throughout the addition, making this a comfortable spot for everything from summer entertaining to cozy winter evenings.

We transformed this basement into a functional, thoughtfully designed space with custom millwork, a dedicated bedroom, and a built-in workspace for studying and everyday use. We also upgraded the home’s electrical service to 200 amps to support the needs of the space and the home as a whole.
