Don't forget to disconnect your hose from your frost free outside faucets !

The water won't drain out and will freeze and split the faucet after the shut off making for a nasty surprise in spring when you turn it on !

If you have sediment faucets for outside taps then shut off the supply to them inside and leave them open, if there is a stop and waste valve inside then remove the small brass cap on the side after the valve is shut and outside tap opened and drain the pipe down into a small container then put the cap back on tight by hand.

Anyone in the market for a basic toilet can't go wrong with the waterridge dual flush from costco.

You won't find a better toilet for the price and in my opinion and as shown by the MAP rating this toilet outperforms many more expensive name brand toilets available at hardware stores.

I was disappointed when costco stopped carrying this model as what it was replaced with was more expensive and lower quality, im honestly shocked that it is now the same price as it was pre-pandemic.

I personally have 4 of these in my own home and had 2 in each of my last homes. The oldest one i still own is 10 years old and never have I had a problem with them or had to service or replace parts, I don't use the provided closet bolts because they are narrow and made of steel but that goes for any toilet with provided hardware.

They do not clog easily under regular use. My children have managed to clog them a few times using too much paper but that would clog any toilet.

Regardless of the model toilet you choose for your home please reach out of you are interested in booking an installation. The cost is more than this particular toilet but very competitive and I think you will find lower than most other plumbing companies.

It's that time of year again !

If you turn on your outside tap for the first time this spring and have water leaking inside then most likely the hose was left connected in winter and the frost free outside faucet body could not drain out and froze.

Sometimes they do not split but may have internal damage or a leaking vacuum breaker (inside cap on top)

Friendly reminder now that we are getting into freezing weather...
Make sure to remove your garden hoses from your outside taps !
When a hose is left connected to a frost free hose bib it can not drain out properly. The trapped water will freeze inside and split the faucet or damage the stem.
They will not immediately leak when burst because the shut off is at the very back of the barrel on the warm side of your home. This makes for a nasty surprise in the spring because when you turn it on water will flow through the split into your home, if you are outside you may not notice until considerable damage is done to drywall and flooring.
This is easy to prevent so I'd like to help my customers save an un-necessary bill and keep your outside tap from joining my collection !

Your kitchen plumbing setup can provide more than just water for washing dishes.

Adding a filtration system for drinking water or on demand hot water for tea and hot chocolate or noodles as seen on the left are great kitchen accessories that can save time making very hot water or money on bottled water.

This example is a beverage bar in a hair salon but any business could also benefit from these products for their employees or customers.

Do you ever find the wait for hot water at your tap is very long? Once water sits in your hot lines for awhile it loses heat until it's room temperature, then you have to run out the warm water until fresh hot water gets from your water heater to the tap, resulting in wasted water and a slightly higher water bill.

The solution if you don't enjoy the wait or wastage is a recirculation pump. Some large homes already have a recirc line run to the mechanical room but you just need to have the pump piped in and installed if you find your wait times for hot water excessive.

For homes that a recirc line was never run there are a few options that push the lukewarm water into your cold lines and back to the water heater so you always have hot water at the tap.

Lots of homes have these sediment faucets for outside taps. They work well as long as you shut the water off to them in winter and drain the line.

They are not usually fastened to anything and are at risk of breaking or kinking the copper pipe if someone pulls too hard on the hose or something hits it. They also are not code anymore because they are a cross contamination risk without any backflow prevention.

This one was broken off so I replaced it with a frost free outside tap. These are fastened to the house to prevent damage to your plumbing system or the tap itself and have a built in vacuum breaker and check valve to prevent anything being siphoned back into your potable water.

The shut off on this style is inside on the warm side of the exterior wall to prevent freezing and drains out when not in use, just be sure to disconnect your garden hose in winter so it can drain or the faucet could still freeze and burst.

Updated shower for a customer who had an old two handle shower valve, they also wanted to add a rainhead and have a handspray with diverter at an easy height to reach.

This Glacier Bay modern wall bar handheld shower and rain showerhead kit worked excellent for upgrading an existing tub/shower and at a fraction of the cost that adding a diverter valve, outlet 90 for handheld, wall bar for handheld and a rainhead would have been.
