Well, the last couple weeks showed us summer is here.

Made it through the first heat snap. Now's a good time to book in any preventative maintenance. If your AC didn't work as well as normal, or was having issues.

Here's some helpful hints to get you and your furnace through the winter season.

1) If possible get a maintenance done by a service professional. This can help prolong your furnace life and help see any proactive repairs that can save money in the long run.

2) Change filters regularly. Every filter is a little different but when running continuously I recommend changing it every 6-8 weeks, dirt is your furnaces worst enemy. Pull the filter out and look at in in the light, if it looks clogged change it. This will help your furnace run better and even save money on your power bill.

3) Check your flues and ensure there is nothing around your furnace or any air intakes.
Vacuum any debris and dust that has collected around the unit

4) Make sure all venting and pipes are connected and look normal. For a natural gas furnace do a smell test, if you detect the aroma of rotten eggs you may have a gas leak.

Remember an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Hope this will help you through the winter season.
