π‘π‘ Halifax has been building at a record pace - nearly 9,000 housing units under construction every month in 2025. And yet median rent still sits at $2,150 a month in 2026.
The reason is simple.
Population is growing faster than supply.
Halifax added residents at 4 to 5 percent annually for the past several years.
Construction cannot catch up.
What that means for a homeowner with a backyard in HRM is that rental demand is not going anywhere.
A finished legal on a qualifying property is not a gamble. It. is a response to a market that has been undersupplied for years and is nowhere near balanced yet.
Did you know - Halifax was building at this pace and rent was still climbing?
