“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” (2 Corinthians 12:9)
When you come to faith in Christ and choose to follow Him, your life does not get easier - and you don’t suddenly stop sinning. You are given the Holy Spirit - almost like getting a VIP ticket to enter a concert, except you never paid for it yourself. When the concert approaches, you prepare yourself for the experience. You listen to the music, talk to other people about it, choose an outfit. When the day of the event finally arrives, you go out to the stadium with your ticket in-hand preparing to enter. When you get to the door, they ask “can I see some ID?” You look down and notice that the ticket says another name, and your panicking because your ID wont match. But then a hand rests on your shoulder, and a voice says to the security guard “Don’t worry, they are with me.”
In the same way, your efforts to prepare for getting into heaven are not what get you in. It’s your relationship with the ticket-holder. It was right to prepare, but that only happened because you were given the ticket. The security guard doesn’t care if you are dressed and ready. Your identity is what they care about. Your identity needs to be connected to the ticket holder. Likewise, it is our identity in Christ that grants us entrance into the Kingdom of God. If you have no relationship with Jesus, you don’t get in. He doesn’t care that you are weak and broken - that’s a result of sin, our disconnectedness from God since the Garden of Eden. The Holy Spirit makes us holy, not our actions, but He will teach and train us to walk in Holiness as we “walk in the spirit” - walking alongside Him, like receiving guidance from a mentor. Stop treating weakness and sin like it’s a god over you - God is stronger. God bless you 🙏❤️
