The hydrangeas steal the show.

When planning a new garden, I love thinking about what it will become, and not just how it looks the day it’s planted.

Using hydrangeas generously, with different varieties repeated throughout has given this garden that lush, layered feeling remarkably quickly.

This is only two years of growth.

Some places continue to hold stories long after the people who lived there are gone.

This barn was once part of a family farm where generations built a life and created memories. Though the land now belongs to someone else, it still carries the quiet presence of those who came before.

I’ve always been drawn to old homes, weathered barns, and buildings like this. Their beauty isn’t found in perfection, but in their character. The worn wood shake, faded paint, and craftsmanship can never truly be recreated. It’s a reminder that some of the most meaningful places become even more beautiful with age.

When I design spaces for children, I’m not thinking about just this season of life. I’m thinking about the years ahead.

A timeless bed, quality furniture, natural materials and a calm foundation create a room that can grow alongside them. As they change, it’s often the layers that evolve. Books, artwork, bedding, treasured collections and the little things that reflect who they’re becoming.

Some of my favourite children’s rooms are the ones that still feel just as beautiful years later, even though the child has changed completely.

To me, good design isn’t about constantly starting over. It’s about creating a home that evolves with the people who live in it.

A beautiful home, untouched in all the right ways.

Original mouldings. Old windows. Floors that have earned every mark on them. The owners have preserved so many of the elements that make homes feel so special.

That kind of restraint is rare. It’s also the whole point.

Some homes don’t need reinventing. They need someone to notice the beauty that’s already there.
