Little farmstand update!

We've added a flower card system so you can make your own card for your loved ones when you buy flowers, and a leave a note cork board.

We offer wrapped bouquets, vase arrangements by request during the week, offer local delivery, and stock the farmstand Fridays to Sundays.

We have purchased a flower cooler for the farmstand to keep the flower quality prestine in this heat, but still need to figure out how to get power to it. I'd need a super duper duper long cord for it to reach. Solar powered might be an option. Drop your suggestion below.

Go check your tomato plants for hornworms now!!

They will destroy your plant.

This is typically when they show up in zone 5b (Southern, Ontario, Canada) in mid July. They can show up as early as June but the heaviest feeding typically occurs mid July to August.

To find them check for dark black p**p that look like mini pellets and check your stems for stripped leaves. You can often hear them munching. They can get pretty big up to 4 inches long.

Ditch flowers for me :D

As most customers want top notch gorgeous flowers, I look back on how I used to forage for flowers on the farm when I was a kid. Now I get the joy of doing it with my daughter.

Even though my customers only get the most beautiful, cut flowers, I still enjoy foriaging for flowers with my daughter to display on my counter.

It's where my love of flowers started.

My counter display for just me which includes my beautiful cut flowers as well as foraged beautiful pink burs. Yes- the ones that stick to your clothes.

Now that we have an abundance of beautiful cut flowers I'll have to let her have free range to the cut flower patch!!

Dead head your cornflowers!

If you want extended blooms, dead heading is your friend.

Check out my previous videos on why and what I do with the other flowers I dead head instead of chucking them in the ditch.

My standards are high!

These blooms do not meet my quality standard to make it to my bouquets.

All these bachelor button blooms were cut and given to my daughter for crafts.

Why you may ask?

These are fully opened blooms or blooms with missing petals. Fully opened bachelor buttons will not last long in a vase.

We cut our bachelor buttons when they are 1/2 to 3/4 open for longest vase life and pass the wiggle test for strong stems.

We also save some fully open perfect blooms for dried flowers. Stay tuned for that video and what I do with them.

Bachelor buttons are not heat tolerant after cut and wilt extremely fast if left out in the heat.

A highly nutritious W**D, WHAT?

Common Purslane the w**d shown here without flowers (Portulaca oleracea) is a fascinating, super-hardy plant that is also a stubborn garden w**d and a highly nutritious superfood

This randomly showed up in my decor garden and has completely overtaken as a ground cover in a matter of a couple weeks right before I coincidentally bought the Rose Moss (the pink flower succulent) part of the same family.

Common Purslane is one of the most culturally significant and historically resilient plants in human history.

It is a rapid spreader as it drops dozens of tiny seeds before frost hits. These seeds are cold-hardy and will sit dormant in the soil all winter. In late spring, they sprout on their own, making the plant appear to behave like a perennial

Please note these plants are highly toxic to animals
