IMPORTANT UPDATE - CLOSED FOR THE SEASON AND NEXT YEAR'S TENTATIVE PLAN
Hi all, sorry it's been a while since hearing anything from me. The last few weeks have been hectic and busy, so this might be a lengthy post, sorry in advance. I have lots of information to share.
I have given my all to starting my nursery business here, but unfortunately it has become more and more difficult to expand and grow to become a viable source of income.
I am so beyond frustrated and tired of constantly fighting with the deer. I'm sure many of you can relate to this. Every time I think I've found a solution to their visits, they promptly prove me wrong and destroy everything I have built and grown. It is becoming very apparent that as long as we have deer on the island, I will never be able to operate my business here the way I want/need to.
This beautiful fence that I built with my partner in the spring worked so well, until it didn't... The other week, the deer decided it was no longer an obstacle for them and started to destroy it. Practically overnight, half of my plants were reduced to nothing but stems. They also helped themselves to all of my garden crops, so that is also a complete write off now.
The remainder of my plants have already been moved off island in an attempt to save them, so I am officially closed for the season as there is nothing left.
So, my plans for next year have changed, again. The island division of Stranded Nursery is going to be operating very differently from now on. Who knew running a business would be such a rollercoaster...
As a lot of you know, I am almost fully moved off the island with my partner now. At our new place l will be setting up a new nursery. I will be predominantly operating out of the Hubbards area from next year onwards. I won't be too far out of the way, either! We are pretty much right off of exit 6.
That being said, I am not going to leave the island high and dry without a nursery service since I know many of you appreciate having this service here. For the Island communities, I will have an order and delivery service.
Early next spring, I will have a transplant availability list which I will give to anyone who requests one. You will be able to pick out the exact number of plants you want from the available varieties, and pick when you want them delivered to you from the available delivery slots. I will make a regular weekly trip to the island to drop off any orders during the Order & Delivery window.
I also think it would be fun to use my space on the island for pop up markets and events like that! I won't be here as often, but I'll certainly still be around!
Thank you all for giving me a good start and showing as much support for me as you have, please don't take this as me leaving because there is not enough support, because that's not it. I am just simply trying to build a career for myself, and I have to take the opportunities that arise which will allow me to progress said career.
Thank you all for understanding, and I hope you all have a fantastic summer and fall! I intend to make wreaths again this winter, so stay tuned for posts about that!

(Stay tuned for updates about how the new nursery location is coming! We have already started to develop the land for it!)
