Built for S’more Than Looks.

It’s National Toasted Marshmallow Day, and we can’t think of a better excuse to celebrate one of our favourite backyard features: fire.

In the Okanagan, summer means being especially mindful about open flames and wildfire risk. When fire restrictions are in effect, responsible outdoor living means following local regulations and choosing properly designed, controlled gas fire features where permitted.

But the beauty of a great fire feature is that it isn’t just for summer. Cool fall evenings, crisp spring nights and even a winter gathering can turn the fire into the place everyone gravitates toward.

At Hampton Pools & Landscape, we design outdoor spaces for more than appearances. Fire features can add warmth, atmosphere and another season of life to an Okanagan backyard.

And since today is National Toasted Marshmallow Day, there’s only one question left:

A rainy day in the Okanagan might just be perfect hot tub weather.

Some Reds Are Best Served with a Little Blue. 🍷

It’s National Red Wine Day, and around here, we’re fortunate enough to live in a place where a great glass of red and an extraordinary backyard can both be distinctly Okanagan.

From the vineyards of West Kelowna to an evening beside the pool, some of the best things about living here are meant to be savoured slowly.

Today we’re raising a glass to our neighbours at Mission Hill Family Estate⁠, one of the wineries helping put Okanagan wine on the map.

Because sometimes the perfect pairing isn’t red wine and dinner.

It’s red wine, blue water and an Okanagan view.

Before we walked, we floated.

For nine months, water held us—before gravity, before language, before we took a single breath of air.

Perhaps that is why returning to water can feel like returning to something we have always known. The body softens. The noise recedes. We feel held again.

A pool may be designed from concrete, water and light—but what it gives us is far more instinctive.

A return to our first home.

The best outdoor spaces don’t need to compete with their surroundings.

Water can be functional. It can also become one of the most striking design elements in an outdoor space.

A well-designed water feature or integrated spa brings movement, sound, reflection and atmosphere into the landscape. The proportions matter. So do the materials, sightlines, lighting and the way the water connects visually with the pool, architecture and surrounding garden.

For custom pool and landscape projects in Kelowna and the Okanagan, these details can turn a practical feature into something sculptural. A spa doesn’t have to feel added on, and a water feature doesn’t have to compete for attention. When they are designed as part of the whole environment, they simply belong.
