Pond Build – Update Part 2: From bare ground to structural rock! 🛠️💧

​Sharing the next step of this extensive pond and bog renovation. This phase was all about precision layers and heavy lifting.

​We started with the base geotextile, dropped the liner, and ran the plumbing for the biological filtration system. The bog is now fully loaded with multi-fraction gravel to ensure crystal-clear water later on.

​After installing the liner, we filled the pond with water and left it for a few days to let it stretch, settle into its shape, and to make sure there were no leaks.

​Once that was done, we drained the water and moved to the next step: adding a second protective geotextile layer over the liner before locking everything in with massive boulders and natural stone.

​Heavy work, but the foundation is rock solid. It takes a lot of effort to get every detail right, but it ensures the project will last for years.

Pond Renovation Series:

Part 1 — Turning an old puddle into an ecosystem paradise! 🌊🚜

​Take a look at the first clips. This backyard in Kelowna already had a pond, but it was facing some serious issues: a completely torn liner, poor filtration, and a depth of only 1.5 feet. It was leaking, messy, and needed a total reset.

​That’s exactly what EcoForest Landscaping does best!

​We broke ground by completely stripping out the old, damaged material and clearing the site. We significantly expanded the area, deepened the basin, and carved out structural terraces. To ensure maximum stability, we used sandbags to tightly secure and shape the shelves. This sandbag foundation not only locks everything into place but also cushions the sharp rocks common in our local soil, protecting the upcoming liner from any future damage.

​The structural foundation is locked, leveled, and completely ready for the next big step!
