Over the years, I’ve grown tomatoes in just about every shape, size, colour and character imaginable.

Perfectly round, delightfully wonky, striped, ribbed, tiny, giant, red, yellow, green, purple and everything in between.

A reminder that nature doesn’t do cookie-cutter and thank goodness for that. There is so much beauty in diversity, especially in the tomato patch.

When a flower comes in so many shapes, sizes and hues, it’s easy to see why dahlias are a cut flower garden favourite! 😍

From dinner plates (featured) to peaches & cream, every bloom brings something unique to the garden and to the vase. It’s been a pleasure growing them and another season is upon us! 👏

Won’t stop, can’t stop! 🍅🌱

One of my favourite annual traditions is heading out to for the heirloom tomato seedling sale in May - been making the trip for years and it’s always worth it.

She grows an incredible selection of heirloom varieties, shares a wealth of knowledge and reminds us why supporting local growers matters. From garden staples to unique tomatoes you won’t find just anywhere, there’s always something new to bring home.

Of course, no visit to Prince Edward County is complete without exploring a few new spots along the way. Supporting local farms, discovering local businesses, and soaking up everything has to offer, it’s a tradition we’ll happily keep coming back for. 🚙

Dedication 👏🌱🍅

If it’s gotta be planted, it’s gonna be planted. Late-night work in the garden getting tomato seedlings into the ground, fire crackling to keep the mosquitos away and the moon lighting the way.

Some things just can’t wait until morning. 🤣

Welcome back to another season with Roots with Ryan. 👨🏻‍🌾🌱🍅🌸

It’s been a little while since I’ve shared here, but the garden is calling again. And honestly, you can never have enough plants or flowers. 😉

This weekend, I visited the farmers market in and stopped by to pick up a few new additions for the garden. 🌸🪻

I’m looking forward to sharing more of the journey this season - the successes, the lessons, the beauty of what is grown + hopefully plenty of homegrown harvests along the way.

Every day is 🌎

We only have one home and it’s been growing and evolving for billions of years - same as us. We’re all rooted in it, from the first forms of life in the lakes to the trees around us now, to our own family roots + the stories that got us here.

This season, I’ll be sharing more of that journey. From biodiversity and composting to growing vegetables and flowers, I hope you’ll follow along, learn something new, and maybe even feel inspired to get your hands a little dirty. 🌱

A reminder to appreciate where we come from, take care of what we have, and not take it for granted.
